Newt Gingrich: Trump will 'probably' lose election if states shut down again
by Anthony Leonardi, Breaking News Reporter
 | June 27, 2020 10:58 AM

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich predicted President Trump will "probably" lose the election if states reenact shutdowns amid the coronavirus.

As coronavirus cases spike in places across the country, prompting some states to halt their plans to reopen, Gingrich told Just The News on Friday that another economic blow could be fatal to Trump's political prospects in November.

“If Trump is right and we can reopen safely with reasonable precautions, he’ll probably get reelected. If Trump is wrong, and as a result states have to shut down again and the economy goes back in the tank, then he probably won’t get reelected, no matter what the consequence is, because at that point, people will say, ‘Well, that didn’t work,'" Gingrich said.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
He is right, but Trump is losing against a man hiding in his basement.

Trump is failing.  What got the American people to support him in 2016?  One of his primary planks was JOBS!

JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS...JOBS

I just can't say it enough. JOBS!!!!!!  He promised to end the H1-b VIsa Program Day One of his presidency.  Did he promise anything else Day One?  Nothing comes to mind for me.

SO WITH TENS OF MILLIONS THAT ARE UNEMPLOYED NOW, AND THE NUMBER IS MUCH LARGER BECAUSE SELF EMPLOYED ARE NOT COUNTED, THE NEED TO END THE H1-B VISA PROGRAM IS A NO BRAINER.

If Trump fails to end this program, he does not deserve to be re-elected.  It is that simple.

TRUMP DID A FLIP FLOP AND KISSED THE POSTERIOR OF THE TECH POWER FOLKS WHEN HE MET WITH THEM, INCREASING THE H1-B VISA PROGRAM.    This act was the kiss of death BEFORE the virus ever came along.  Now magnify that by a factor of 10 or even 100.  The need to end the H1-b Visa Program is greater than ever.  Trump does nothing.

He just does not deserve your vote if he does nothing on this one issue!!!  This is abuse against Americans in favor of foreigners.  It's wrong.  It was wrong in 2016, and it is still wrong today.

He is right.

@kevindavis

Yup. The economy is where political reality rubber meets the road.
Anyone who isn't paranoid in 2021 just isn't thinking clearly!

Slow Joe has every television in the nation supporting him at 6 and 11 PM every day

Well then... he's gonna lose... because it looks like at least some states ARE going to have to "shut down again" in some respects. Perhaps not completely, but partially as the virus takes off in places where it was previously propagating at low speed, or not at all.

Apparently, there are still things to be learned about how it transmits, and also how it fades as well.

I've mentioned in other threads and I'll repeat:
This isn't a political issue, insofar as the virus is concerned.
The virus has no knowledge of politics.
All it does is replicate itself when conditions for replication are favorable.
And spread from one host to the next as conditions permit.

When people congregate, particularly in close groupings under cover, those conditions grow more favorable, not less so.

The face masks probably help at least somewhat.
How much, can't say for sure.
Why are they required in surgical situations?

I saw a graph posted somewhere a day or two ago.
On it were represented the virus' spread in a number of countries, including Italy, France, and the USA.
In all the countries EXCEPT the United States, the "curve" of infections seemed to peak quickly and then fall.
Here in the USA, the curve rose to a peak, then fell to what looked like a "plateau" -- and towards the end, began climbing higher again.
Why would the USA have a curve so unlike all the others?

The only reason I can think of, is because Americans are freer than those of  other countries, with a more independent and rebellious spirit. The same spirit that "separates us from them" is now working against us, for our natural impulses to behave freely and resent outside control seem to be creating an epidemiological environment (is a roughneck railroad guy allowed to say such things?) that facilitates the social spread of the virus.

But I have no solution as to how to change that.
Perhaps we're lucky that it cannot be "changed".
Well, not yet, anyway.
