Memes
« on: June 25, 2020, 02:52:09 PM »
What is a meme? What makes a meme racist?

Are there any conservative or neutral sites discussing it?
I have been banned from another site.

I ask because all the sites explaining are known lefty sites.
Like the example of All Black Lives Matter vs All Lives Matter.

The more I read this redefinition of the common meaning of
words to be Marxist jibba jabba.

I drafted a letter, but I have addressed racist, and not racist memes.

Banned from another site.

"You have been banned for the following reason: Racist memes and starting
threads with links and no other input. Date the ban will be lifted: __"

I wrote a long DRAFT concluding with the following. Suggestions and clarification
of issues would be appreciated.

My issues with today’s climate are those of behavior not race. In my view rioting
has nothing to do with being black, it does relate to taking goods and acting in a
lawless manner. One cannot obtain respect, earnings, character, family, and a
reasonable life without exhibiting the same qualities and demonstrating
independence from things told or witnessed from your infancy. I was told quite a
bit of defective thinking and logic. I left it in my past. Others could do the same
and improve their chances of obtaining the same. Larry told me a few months
before he passed that having less was an advantage. It teaches self restraint.
Until that time I had not considered that being poor was an advantage. I revised
one more item of deficient thinking.

Your racist conclusion was received along with a ban. The label racist is on a par
with other serious offenses. Respect is something established between people
when they act in mutual beneficial ways. Would you like a few phone numbers
of black friends or even Dave?  You could then ask them what you will. Pick a
few and I will provide numbers.

In any event, I believe the above disassociates me from the term racist. The term
is offensive and used as a weapon.

Refrain from using it to or about me. I may have not commented on a couple of posts
which I realize is not in guideline conformance. I do not dispute the ban on that basis
and I will improve control. I do not intend the forum harm or distress.

Well it appears I have outed myself without gaining insight.

If the entire letter would be of value, I can edit it to remove
those names.

I play in pool leagues and met champion players. Several are
black. I also received a call from someone I drove to college
for a couple of bucks. He is quite racist.

The letter explained a number of things.

The absence of comment implies I should not explain anything.

There is nothing to be gained by arguing with them, or even by attempting to "reason" with them.

Once they have labeled you as being "racist", you can never be rehabilitated in their eyes.
You are a target, to be attacked and used as an example for others.

So... you might as well just be who you are, and enjoy being so.

Yep. I usually don't give a damn when others disagree, but somehow
this caught my focus. It is merely a week of rest. I had prior ban 10
years back but I knew I would be banned for it and enjoyed it greatly.

Thanks for the advice. The funny part is that the forum is a pool site.
Largest in the world that has about 50 to 100 posters on a sub forum
for non pool related issues. Lots of weird topics and political items.
The main area on pool is outstanding. I have 70,000+ posts there.

After I posted here it occurred to me that they have made a conclusion
about my words. Sometimes I miss the obvious when it is in another
form. I know what I said and meant. They do not. Quite irrational.
I was thinking about explaining myself which is also irrational.

I am writing a book about family, stories, education and work experience
for my grandson. He is nine. Perhaps I will put a summary of it there.

I will also tell my black friends that I am racist though they will not
believe me.

@Slide Rule  Where was this?
We need to re-coin the expression, "Press Bias" to "Media Bigotry."
I will NOT comply.

@Slide Rule

Reading over your post about the censorship we're seeing a lot of in Cyber World.  I agree, we are.  There was a story a number of months ago about how a knitting forum was completely destroyed by arguing over Trump politics.  And, from the standpoint of an Administrator/Moderator, I have to note there is a lot of work that goes into stifling free expression, and it gets harder the longer one does it.

I watch my word and sentence construction, so I was surprised to be targeted.
Evidently in our group I walk slower than the others so the alligator caught up.

Hopefully he will make a nice set of luggage.

I do enjoy recognition.

We had for a few years a Marxist who was intelligent and handy at sentence
construction. He did all he could to damage Trump. Then a few months after
Trump was elected, he vacated. We thought he was a paid poster. It did seem
likely. A guy from southern Florida. The lefties remaining are overwhelmed by
knowledge and experience. Even the lefty with a law degrees is at major
disadvantage.

I logged onto The Tree of Liberty this week. It has changed drastically after some
10 years absence. Half those who were friends have no recent activity.

The direction seems defeatist though they have several interesting threads.

My period of Censorship ran out yesterday at Noon so I have been catching
up on newsworthy stories and postings.

I appreciate all the advice received here. It was very helpful.

So far there has been no retribution.

Thank you all,
Al
