Bolton accuses Trump of lying in new ABC interview

Former national security adviser John Bolton accused President Trump of lying while in office, according to a preview of an interview with ABC News set to air Sunday.

In a promotional clip released by the network, ABC's Martha Raddatz sits down to talk about Bolton's experience in the administration and his upcoming book, "The Room Where it Happened: A White House Memoir."

"Is the president lying?" Raddatz asks Bolton.


“Yes he is, and it’s not the first time either,” Bolton replies, according to the clip.

NEW Bolton book excerpt in WSJ: In June 2019, Xi "explained to Trump why he was basically building concentration camps in Xinjiang. ... Trump said that Xi should go ahead with building the camps, which Trump thought was exactly the right thing to do."

This is by far the most explosive allegation from the Bolton book that we’ve seen so far—that Trump *encouraged* Xi to continue building concentration camps for religious minorities in Xinjiang, & that Trump “thought it was exactly the right thing to do.”

BOLTON says that for Trump, obstruction of justice is a "way of life," denounces what he says is Trump's penchant to "give personal favors to dictators he liked" & says Trump prioritized his reelection and family's well-being over all else. @michaelcbender

 today on Bolton book: "This book is full of classified information." This would appear to be a tacit confirmation of at least some of the accounts in the book. It can't be classified if it didn't happen.

Lighthizer denies Bolton claim that Trump asked Xi for election help

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Wednesday denied a claim by former National Security Advisor John Bolton that President Trump asked Chinese President Xi Jinping for help winning the 2020 election.

"Absolutely untrue, never happened. I was there, I have no recollection of that ever happening. I don't believe it's true, I don't believe it ever happened," Lighthizer said at a Senate Finance Committee Hearing.

Less than an hour earlier, The Washington Post ran an excerpt from Bolton's upcoming book, in which the former Trump administration official claims that Trump made the request for electoral help from Xi during a one-on-one meeting at the Group of 20 summit in Japan in June 2019.


Trump, Bolton wrote, turned the conversation to "China’s economic capability to affect the ongoing campaigns, pleading with Xi to ensure he’d win.”

That one kills Bolton's credibility at square 1.  No sane POTUS or even American would say anything that stupid.  I am thinking Bolton didn't get to play Boom ! Boom!, and now wants to return a little pay back.

This book brings me back to the campaign of ‘16. Recall the frenzied attacks on Trump? The years old recordings of Trump’s phone calls, the outlandish accusations? Hourly stories about his insane behavior, his criminal activities, his pact with the devil, how he ate babies and crushed puppies for amusement. LOL!

Bolton’s book is that. You know what they say, politics ain’t beanbags.

Ummmmmmmmm ... the camps in Xinjiang were in preparation and opening in 2016 as part of a policy set in motion in 2014. And that policy was in response to several prior years of unrest. Bolton is making @#$% up, possibly relying on people not remembering when the "reeducation" camps started and/or not doing a little easy basic research.
