McConnell plans to stay on as Senate GOP leader even if he loses majority
By Jordain Carney - 06/16/20 12:09 PM EDT

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Tuesday that he intends to stay on as Republican leader even if his party loses control of the upper chamber in November.

Asked if he intends to seek the GOP leader spot in the next Congress even if Republicans lose the majority, McConnell told reporters: "I do."

McConnell, who became GOP leader in 2007, is already the longest-serving Republican leader, a milestone he surpassed in 2018. He has been majority leader since 2015, when Republicans took control of the Senate. Before that he was minority leader starting in January 2007.

McConnell's comments on Tuesday, which were first reported by Politico and confirmed to The Hill by a spokesman, come as Republicans are fighting to hold onto the Senate, where they currently have a 53-seat majority.

McConnell has warned that the battle for the Senate will be a "dogfight."

China Mitch would just LOVE to be the Minority leader. He and his fellow RINOS do not have to govern and can make MILLIONS or BILLIONS selling their votes and negotiating with the DEMS for their own personal financial interest. In fact he WANTS to LOSE the SENATE and probably do anything he can to give the SENATE to the Socialist DEMS and Schumer. He does not have to worry about TRUMP ( who he HATES anyway ) and support anything that will hurt or STOP TRUMP. Only problem is KY raises up and get that POS out of office even if it means electing a DEM. ****slapping

Why not?  McConnell sat on his arse as majority leader and did nothing even when his party held both houses of congress and the presidency.  As minority leader, he can still sit on his behind and do nothing -- only now he has a valid excuse.

McConnell has done a good job with the judicial appointments.

Although I think Trump has done a better job than I thought he would....judicial appointments were the reason I pulled the lever. That wouldn't have happened without McConnell. imho

I pulled the lever because of the potential SCOTUS appointments .... not real thrilled with either Gorsuch or Kavanaugh.  Both have been disappointments.  The only saving grace is that Hillary lost.

As far as Mitch ... nothing can redeem his poor leadership over the years.  Perhaps he helped with some judicial appointments, but in my books that doesn't excuse him from wreaking havoc on the GOP for many years and making it difficult for true conservatives to be seated.  It's time for Mitch to go and I hope by some miracle he's replaced by someone more conservative.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

The way he threw Roy Moore under the bus and then put his knee on his neck, I will never support this cur (both meanings) even for dog catcher.

Turtle does that to anyone who isn't in his inner circle or someone who doesn't vote like he does (Dem lite).

He's every bit as dirty and devious as Harry Reid ever was.  He took over as majority leader again and immediately purged any Freedom Caucus or tea party backed candidate from key positions with intent RSCC and Congressional Research section.

The way he's done Roy Moore...the election back in 2012 down in Missippi and even when he had a challenger 6 years ago is the definition of dirty politics.

@Polly Ticks will back me up on what he did in Kentucky when Matt Bevin challenged him.
