Trump tweets spark fresh headache for Republicans

By Jordain Carney - 06/09/20 08:28 PM EDTSenate Republicans are facing new headaches from an old source: President Trump’s Twitter account.
The president this month has weighed in on the handling of protesters, called out several Republican senators by name and, most recently, amplified a conspiracy theory about a 75-year-old man injured by police in Buffalo, N.Y.

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) distanced himself from the president’s latest tweets on Tuesday but acknowledged that GOP senators would also largely prefer to not have to talk about Trump’s social media habits.

“Most of us up here would rather not be political commentators on the president’s tweets because that’s a daily exercise,” Thune said.
Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), who is retiring, said he would leave it up to others, including the “distinguished media,” to evaluate Trump’s tweets.

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

The rat media is so predictable. Its so easy to tell when they're deflecting.

Of course the old crank was a progressive street agitator who deserved every foot-pound of that shove.

Well, the "republicans" give me a headache that Tylenol will not make go away..
Why have they been so quiet over the last 3 months?
Why have the republicans allowed the country to be run into the ground by the left?

The 'republicans' per this essay are cowards.

I know I sound like a broken record, but WH COS or CD really needs to be vetting every POTUS Tweet.

Many times the POTUS is right (as in this case), but the optics are awful, and with MSM attacks, he's boxed in again as an unabashed bully.

How can it be right?  Have we really been driven so far from the Constitution?  Whether you believe a shove was warranted and I think it was they should have stopped there.  While the man was laying on the street.  The arguments are idiotic.  Every single person at those rallies are liberal.  They are all saying BLM.  But if the police started shoving them all, pepper spraying, hitting them with rubber bullets would they stop protesting?  No, they would increase protesting and they would have gained another argument against law enforcement.

Its idiotic.  Every person deserves to have their case in court.  The man did have something and was pointing it.  Instead of Trump tweeting out what he thought (conspiracy theory), without any proof he should wait for the investigation and trial.  Instead he ignited more fury in crowds of thousands and thousands of liberals looking for any excuse to continue.  He gave them one.  He does it often.  He deliberately give the liberal media the ammunition to drive outrage.

I have no sympathy for him.  And he is stoking these protests so that he can use it.  Much of the liberals calls to defund police can be attributed to Trump.

How can it be right?

There has been more than enough evidence that this guy was a provacteur, and if you dug hard enough, you'd likely see Antifa connections.

Another point, have you watched the video.  I have taken enough Physics to understand the laws of motion and energy.  The force of the guy falling back exceeded the force of the guy pushing him.  This was an intentional fall, and the dumbass took that chance, and busted his head open.  See Slippin' Jimmy of Better Call Saul.

Your defense of protesters and their tactics is kind of puzzling?  Has your hatred of Trump exceeded your abilty to support the conservative agenda?  I am beginning to wonder.

I was told early on by Trump supporters that he uses Twitter to disseminate real news because the mainstream media puts out so much falsehood.  However, in the last four years, it seems to me all Trump does with Twitter is bully people he doesn't like, whine about certain injustices (real or imagined) and put out conspiracy theories and unproven stories. This incident in Buffalo -- despite the clear version of the video that's out now, we still don't know for sure what all went down.    Seems to me it's not prudent for a president running for re-election to bash this guy, especially since all the facts aren't in yet.

Then there is Trump's feud with Scarborough.  Why is he pushing a conspiracy theory that was debunked ages ago?  How does doing so inform his base and any potential voters out there?

Colin Powell voting for Biden:  I was also told once that Trump didn't need every vote, particularly mine.  So why is Trump disparaging Powell on Twitter about his vote for Biden?   The general does have the right to choose whoever he wants.  And whether we like Powell or not -- I don't -- he is still considered in some quarters to be a respected member of the military.  Bullying him may not go over well with those voters.

I understand there is an official White House Twitter account.  Why can't Trump let that account disseminate the "real news?"  Maybe he can tweet from his own account about his campaign -- his next rally, for example.  But the way he is using Twitter now only pleases his base.  If he wants to attract outsiders, he should lay off the insults, whining and conspiracy theories.   They are a turnoff.  Turning off voters is a bad idea when you are running for re-election.

Sometimes we need to flip the question around....
Would we understand the depth and scope of obamagate IF Trump had not tweeted about being wiretapped and corrupt FBI?
IMO, he tweets for two reasons, one - to get the media to focus on an issue and to kick start investigations, secondly, he gauges the public/political reaction to a position, that is why he appears to switch gears so often.

As to Obamagate -- well, I don't know if that is for real or not.  Was he wiretapped?  Thought that was unproven.

And as for the media -- well, they will report whatever baloney they want. His tweets do nothing to prevent that.  And that's especially true if he is putting forth conspiracy theories instead of facts.

If Trump is accused of something, instead of calling people names, he could try putting out a denial and counter with solid, provable facts.  What he does is tweet insults at whoever reported the accusation and/or the news outlet which employs that person.    And maybe he should let his press secretary, communications director or whoever put out a statement and not use Twitter.

To be fair - you don't know the depth and scope of Obamagate. You know what's been said, not proven. If all that's been said were true, there would be indictments on the table, and frog-marching political leaders headed for the hoosegow.

Now, I know that's what you WANT - Which is why you easily believe... But until there are actual arrests and convictions, all this crap should be treated as propaganda just as much as the lefts' 'news'.

What is happening here is the destruction of journalism on the Right, and it is not a good thing. I will predict that not a single indictment of importance will stick. You'll get a few designated bagholders and nothing more.

SOSDD except the Right is cheering it.

Fascinating isn't he?

Unfortunately, he doesn't always appear.  He does ask thought provoking questions tho.  Sometimes I wonder how I missed the message when I had the same info.  Sometimes he'll ask something that I had been wondering about.  Sometimes I learn so much about things that I had no idea existed.

He always amazes me, tho.  I'm grateful that he brought my mind alive.  LOL  Life can be rather mundane.  I hadn't realized I'd lost critical thinking skills.  There has not been much in my daily life that needed it for years.  :)
