Why won't Trump lead against riots?
by Tom Rogan

The riots are inflicting chaos, injury, death, and even more economic misery on businesses across the country. How has the nation's chief executive responded?

With inane tweets such as "FAKE NEWS" and "LAW & ORDER," attacking governors — "most of you are weak" — and by taking solace in his favorite television show, Fox and Friends. This is not leadership. It is ludicrousness.

True, many governors and mayors have handled the riots inadequately. Their early effort to cool tensions by directing police to allow looting only fueled the rioters' sense of possibility. That sense has now reached a critical mass, which will be harder to drain. President Trump was right that the riots should have been handled more forcefully sooner. In equal measure, the president's early, halting statements of sympathy and concern over George Floyd's fate offered him a stepping stone to reach out to the public. Unfortunately, he didn't take the steps.

Rather than trying to unify politicians and citizens under a common cause, Trump has resorted to partisan bickering. Yes, I realize that some Democrats are doing much the same, but Trump is the president of the United States. In moments of crisis, the president is supposed to stand apart. Think about George W. Bush in that first week following the 9/11 attacks.

Nice opinion. I wonder where he got it.

First they criticize Trump for being an autocrat. Then when he’s not being autocratic, they ask why he isn’t being autocratic?  tri22

I sense that Mr. Trump (at least initially) was trying for the same approach as he used during the covid scare -- that is, to support the federalist concept by deferring to state governors to determine policy in their individual states.

But this time around, it's different.
This is an organized insurrection against the United States, with what I believe is a not-so-covert attempt to overthrow the government of the United States.

This calls for a national response. Particularly in those leftist/blue states where the state leadership is actually aligned with the forces attempting this coup.

It's time to invoke the Insurrection Act of the early 1800's, and for the president to literally "send in the troops" which he CAN use to restore order.

Posse Comitatus WILL NOT apply when the above law is used.

I don't understand why this is still a matter under discussion.  The governors have failed to protect the citizenry from this insurrection.  Call in the military, and authorize lethal force.  Every day this is allowed to continue is a dereliction of duty.

Forget the National Guard. It's time to mobilize the militia.

@aligncare

Good to see someone else "gets it". I was about to get depressed.

BTW,NBC news is in a panic now,and so desperate to keep this rioting going they are airing a clip about Eric Gardner in NYC in 2014,and how he died due to police brutality.

He's only one. They have interviews with the families of other police brutality already filmed and waiting to be aired,too.

This is developing into a full-scale war and we either win it,or we lose America forever.

@jmyrlefuller

WHAT militia? Do you seriously think there are militias in leftist shitholes like NYC and Minneapolis?

How about LA?

And even IF there was such a thing as militias in cities,that would just give the media the "boogeyman" the media needs to make ANTIFA look like "freedom fighthers".

Nope,call out the actual federal army,and make this what it is,America against globalist invaders.

BTW,there is a black guy (rapper "killer mike") on NBC right this moment (8:30 AM EST) wearing a "Kill your masters!" sweatshirt,calling for all youths to "join in and fight your enemy. Burn the cities down".

The black guy with the white wife that is the CMMF talking head on NBC morning news just asked him to tell people how they can go about organizing TO DO THAT.

Here we have the head "reporter" for one of the worlds major news networks,asking an anarchist to give views information on how they can organize to murder white people and "burn the world down.",and nobody seems to think it's any big deal.

NBC news—they’ll do as a metaphor for the entire media—is not on the side of America. They are on the side of race pimps and the insurrection, the anarchists, provocateurs and looters. The are spectacularly corrupt and filthy liars. They no longer report the news, they react to the news with their filth and lies.

Right after what I posted above ended,the semi-black anchor guy on NBC Toady interviewed a black guy with "Killer Something" on his shirt who is a rapper,and who was calling for outright violent revolution. The semi-black guy,the Hoda creature,and the Bush spawn all agreed with him.

You are an alien to the left. I don't mean just conservatives but the American people in general. The media, the left, and Hollywood sees the average American as a problem and obstacle on their way to a socialist paradise

These are the people that the Democratic Party needs votes from. Not everyday Americans. That's why you see the reluctance of mayors and blue state govenors to crack down on them. We know these mayors and govenors can because they have no problem cracking down on church goers and women opening up hair salons
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.
