Police departments exist to protect people's persons and property. The Minneapolis Police Department has failed to do either.

Police in Minneapolis catalyzed Wednesday night's violent protests by killing George Floyd on Monday. They've since done a terrible job of protecting innocent property owners from being victimized by the rioting that's erupted in response to Floyd's death.

Floyd was killed Monday night after being stopped by four officers with the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) on suspicion of forgery. During his arrest, one of the officers held his knee on Floyd's neck for eight minutes while the man complained that he couldn't breathe. Floyd later died in the hospital.

Video of the incident, and later factual discrepancies in the police account of the event, was enough to get all four officers fired on Tuesday, and for the U.S. Department of Justice to open a civil rights investigation into Floyd's death.

Neither move has been enough to mollify many in Minneapolis, who've taken to the streets for two nights of demonstrations that have turned increasingly violent . . .

. . . Police departments exist, at least on paper, in order to protect people's rights and people's property. Over the past couple of days, police in Minneapolis have proven unable to do either . . . (T)he destruction of businesses that had nothing to do with Floyd's death is unjustified. Anyone guilty of vandalism or theft during the past few days of protest deserves to be punished.

None of this relieves police of their responsibility to ensure public order or protect innocent people and businesses from being violated . . .

Much much different LEO circumstances, but this almost looks like the start of  a rerun of Ferguson.

Minnesota needs someone in their government who has leadership ability and who is capable of putting a plan in motion to halt the rioting and assure the people that justice will be served.  Unfortunately, all they have are Democrats who couldn't lead ants to a picnic.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

Only this time the cops are actually guilty.

Not to mention holding the police accountable to the maximum when they behave the way George Floyd's killer did.

There's no justification for George Floyd's death---and I speak as the grandson of a New York police officer. Any more than there is for the rioting that's destroying businesses which had absolutely nothing to do with Floyd's death.

Police now have failed to prevent the destruction of their own station house by the mob. What the heck.

I'm wondering if they were ordered by their superiors to "stand down" and retreat...?

They certainly have turned the page from last weeks hyperventilating coverage of the shutdown protests. Mobs jammed elbow to arsehole in a half dozen city centers across the country tonight and nary a peep about the spreading of viruses.

No longer a "thing" I guess.

City officials must have known this would happen. Why didn’t they prepare? For heaven’s sake, if the homey’s win the championship the peeps erupt in happy, singing, dancing violence and destruction.

Uh, because they are incompetent Democrats?

Yep... Right off the front page... Just in time, since they're having a hard time justifying it anymore... Lucky timing I guess  *****rollingeyes*****

Point of clarification. The EMT's arriving at the scene could not find a pulse, this was while officer Derek Chauvin still had his knee on the man’s neck, three minutes after Floyd and become limp and unresponsive. Once they removed George Floyd to the ambulance, they bagged him and performed CPR and electrocardial shocks to no avail. The EMT’s continued this upon arriving at the hospital until the ER personnel took over. While Floyd may have been pronounced dead at the hospital, he was likely dead before the EMT’s arrived.

Aliens must have shown us what happens when you shoot-to-kill looters and violent protesters.

It must be horrible, because how else can you explain the State Police and SWAT not firing on them.

People were NOT uncivil and were quite experienced in San Francisco back in 1906.

After the great earthquake, they summarily executed looters right out in front of the place, against a wall.  And hung a sign around the neck for effective public display.

I guess that doesn't work when everybody on the planet has a video camera in their phone.

Two simple questions regarding the riot:

1. Were there enough police officers on scene(s) to prevent the destruction?

2. Does Minneapolis have enough police officers total to have been able to prevent the destruction?
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

The chickens have come home to roost.  Just watched some Minnesota state senator decrying the violence.  She says she was a community organizer before becoming a senator. These are the very people that she helped raise up.  This is today's Democrat Party.
