Lori Loughlin and husband to plead guilty to fraud in college admissions scandal
By Zack Budryk - 05/21/20 10:01 AM EDT

Actress Lori Loughlin and her husband will plead guilty to fraud in connection with the college admissions scandal after maintaining their innocence for over a year, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday, citing a federal court filing.

Federal prosecutors alleged Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli paid California-based consultant William “Rick” Singer $500,000 to ensure their two daughters were admitted to the University of Southern California fraudulently as rowing recruits.

Both have previously claimed they were misled by Singer into believing the money they paid was a donation to the university rather than a bribe to individual faculty. Earlier in May, they alleged prosecutorial misconduct and moved to have their charges dismissed, which a judge refused.

Under the agreement, the couple’s lawyers and federal prosecutors will agree to ask a judge to sentence Loughlin to two months in federal prison and Giannulli to five months, according to the Times, citing the plea agreement. Loughlin will also serve 100 hours of community service and pay $150,000, while Giannulli agreed to pay $250.000 and perform 250 hours.

As gee. I was looking forward to the trial. It would have been Court TV's highest rated show since the OJ trial.

This is a meaningless distraction from the real crime in America today, which is the ripoff that the bloated, valueless university system has become.

Formalized structured education is another modernist fad, born late in the Enlightenment.
From Adam and Eve, through Greece, Rome, the Medieval Era and the Renaissance;
Man was self taught with an unsurpassed count of achievements in Art and Science.
But we moderns, insisting we are the greatest, are enamored of credentialed bull shit.

I'll add your educational credentials, to my previously unanswered questions about your military and business accomplishments.

We use formal and informal CVs to determine qualifications.

We look for doctors, lawyers, accountaints, contractors, with combinations of education, training, experience as indicators they will get the job done.

You likely will refuse to answer about your personal qualifications and accomplishments.

Education, military, business. Prove me wrong.

But we moderns, addicted to bullshit insist we are the greatest.
Why of course we are; just look at all those degrees and stuff?

Hey guys. I was jus' concerned about the entertainment value that such a dog an' pony show would've provided us. Or lack thereof. Which is the real tragedy here, IMMHO.

From the Fertile Crescent to the Enlightenment, spanned some 9000 years,
when Man's greatest achievements in Art and Science occurred, as history affirms.
This was because Man grasped the vital role that a spiritual sensibility played in
developing the attitudes, behaviors, impulses and sentiments, allowing culture/society
to survive and ultimately to thrive through initiative and creativity.
Then the Enlightenment dawned in the 18th century, promoting the notion that the
material betterment of Mankind was his higher calling; a fateful notion that in fact rules
the ideas prevalent throughout the modern world. The consequences are obvious.
No further interest!!!!!

For medical care I seek out MDs, DOs, PAs, DCs, RNs, etc.

Never, a NYDB.

All of those listed above, require formal education, experience, licensing.

Leeches, and bloodletting gave way to modern science, as part of the  Enlightenment.

Exactly. Unless it is a "hard science degree", a college degree means about as much today as the photos of her daughters crewing a boat in a race. It's just a social thing, and means nothing other than to sever as a passport at upscale social events.

STEM for science, technology, engineering and mathematics ( covers plenty of ground.

Accounting, economics, fall into this. Accounting, economics, finance and Marketing use statistics, and other math tools.

IT, computer sciences are sometimes grouped with "business dept." degrees, too.

i.e., most of STEM is outside "social sciences."

History, including the Fertile Crescent history, falls under "social sciences.
