Controversial Decisions by Governors in NY, NJ, and PA Criticized as Factors in High Level of COVID-19 Nursing Home Deaths

The governors of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania are under fire for controversial nursing home policy decisions that critics say fueled coronavirus deaths in those facilities.

On March 25, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) ordered nursing homes to accept patients who tested positive for COVID-19, as the New York Post reported:

An executive at the unnamed Queens nursing home says that the facility was coronavirus-free until Gov. Andrew Cuomo forced facilities in the state to accept coronavirus patients on March 25.

In Pennsylvania, the Bucks County Courier Times reported:

On March 29, as Pennsylvania, New York and other states began ordering nursing homes to admit medically stable residents infected with the coronavirus, national trade groups warned it could unnecessarily cost more lives.

Then on April 6, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy followed Cuomo’s lead and ordered New Jersey nursing homes to accept patients who tested positive for COVID-19, as NorthJersey.com reported:

New Jersey nursing homes cannot bar coronavirus patients from being admitted into their facilities, a new state policy designed to make room at hospitals already stressed from a growing surge of critically ill patients.

Pennsylvania used to be a lot better in regulating and keeping an eye on these facilities for the elderly.  But for some years, the state has become lax.  The state shares the blame for the major outbreak at Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Beaver County; yet the state is penalizing the entire county for its failures by refusing to allow a relaxation of the lockdowns and business closures in that county.  However, Beaver County is giving the state the middle finger, reopening businesses and easing the lockdowns on its own.

To make things worse Cuomo lackeys put a provision in a bill stating that nursing homes could not be sued over this. I have to wonder if he could be sued over wrongful death.
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

California had such an order (I'm sure there's at least one thread/article about it in the California sub-forum), but for whatever reason it apparently was rescinded after 10 days.

That weirdo health director was severely damaged when it came out that it took its own mother out of a nursing home as it was signing the orders to force said nursing home to accept COVID-19 patients.  Really, really bad optics there.
We need to re-coin the expression, "Press Bias" to "Media Bigotry."
I will NOT comply.

Murdering Governors.  Imperative that this does not  fall to page 10 in media narrative.
