Dozens of Chinese "propaganda" centers still operate across the United States, even as U.S. lawmakers debate how to hold the communist country accountable for withholding information about the coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan province.

For years, Campus Reform has reported on the number of Confucius Institutes on U.S. college campuses. Funded by the communist regime, these centers are marketed as Chinese language and culture centers. However, U.S. intelligence officials have warned that these centers are little more than "propaganda" arms of the communist country.  ...

Report: Universities All Across America Still Have Chinese Propaganda Centers

Many universities throughout America are still allowing what have been described as Chinese propaganda centers to operate on their campuses, despite warnings from intelligence officials that the communist state is using them to infiltrate US society and indoctrinate Americans.

Campus Reform reports that multiple Chinese-funded Confucius Institutes remain in operation, even as US lawmakers seek to hold China accountable for its handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

The report notes that “more than 75 Confucius Institutes are still in operation in the U.S., most of them on college campuses.”

Arkansas prof arrested over alleged secret China ties

    A University of Arkansas professor was arrested and charged for undisclosed ties to China.
    The professor is the latest of multiple American university professors to be charged with such a crime.

Yet another American university professor has been indicted for allegedly failing to disclose his ties to China.

According to the Justice Department, University of Arkansas Electrical Engineering Professor Simon Saw-Teong Ang was arrested Friday on one count of wire fraud. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Arkansas says Ang had "close ties" with both the Chinese government and Chinese companies but failed to disclose his ties when receiving federal grant money through NASA. ... ...  Before I finish I wanted to chat about one of the most worrying elites in the US, the behaviour of US academia rarely gets the column inches it deserves. Chinese influence has been quite often used here through an exploitation of the student visa programs in the US and very close ties to the institutions themselves.

The hugely successful, CCP initiated, One Thousand Talents program was started over a decade ago, more or less openly. The secret design of the program was to infiltrate some of the most prestigious academic universities in the United States with researchers and students, while also hiring US scientists to work on Chinese led programs. The result has been the massive theft of US intellectual property and academic research.

Harvard, perhaps the most revered of the United States Ivy league institutions, has had one of the most troubling ties with the Chinese communist party and this program.

The most high profile academic caught up in the Thousand Talents Program was Harvard professor Charles Lieber.

Dr. Charles Lieber was identified by the Chinese government as a person of interest given his knowledge and expertise in the field of nano-science. Such was Lieber’s recognition as a key strategic scientist, his research group at Harvard had received a $15 million grant from the Department of Defense and National Institute of Health. The grant required Lieber to reveal any support his lab or research group was receiving from foreign entities or persons.

When interviewed in 2018 and 2019 for the DOD/NIH grant, Lieber chose not to reveal that since 2011 he had been sucked into the Chinese plan. He failed to disclose he was designated as a “strategic scientist” at WuHan University of Technology (WUT). That designation made him a “contracted” participant from 2012 through 2017. One three year agreement saw China paying Lieber $50,000 per month, with one million (~$158,000) in Chinese Yuan provided for living expenses, and $1.5 million to establish a research lab at the WUT.

...This type of predatory behaviour is not limited to targetting Harvard and is an example of the time and resources the CCP will employ to infiltrate scientific and academic pillars of the US. The few are bribed in the long term hope that the many can be controlled. ...

DOE probe into colleges finds $6B in unreported funds from China, Russia

A probe by the Department of Education into colleges that accept foreign investments and donations has uncovered $6 billion in previously unreported foreign donations from US adversaries including China and Russia, a report said Friday.

House Republicans were monitoring the investigation into the schools to determine if they were violating Section 117 of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which prohibits an “Institution of Higher Learning” from failing to properly report foreign gifts of $250,000 or more, Town Hall reported.

In a letter from the department obtained by the website, general counsel Reed Rubinstein said that while some colleges recognized that foreign cash from US adversaries could pose a security risk, others had become addicted to the money. ...

When Joe Biden announced he was opening a foreign policy center at the University of Pennsylvania, the goals for the project were ambitious.

At its founding in 2018, Biden described the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement as "a place where policymakers here and abroad will know they can be in touch with some of the best minds."

The center is one of several organizations Biden founded since leaving the White House in 2017, including the domestic policy-focused Biden Institute at the University of Delaware and the Biden Cancer Initiative, all launched in 2017. All three entities have refused to reveal the sources of their funding, a potential landmine for the Democrats' presumptive presidential nominee that raises questions about the influence of individual, corporate, and foreign donations on the presidential candidate.  ...

While the Penn Biden Center has not released information on its donors, foreign funding to the University of Pennsylvania has risen more than threefold since its soft opening, spiking to over $100 million last year from $31 million in 2016, according to Department of Education records.
