Top IT leader for Fairfax Co. Public Schools steps down amid distance learning issues

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Fairfax County Public Schools has confirmed Fairfax   County Assistant Superintendent, Department of Information Technology   Maribeth Luftglass has stepped down Wednesday night after 21 years.
This comes after several technological issues stemming from distance learning concerns.
The school system said it can't make any further comment due to it being a personnel matter.  It was confirmed that there was a letter sent to her IT staff, however, to make them aware and it was effective immediately.
Fairfax County Public Schools canceled the second day of virtual classes last Wednesday as the  IT department worked to fix the technical and security issues that caused the temporary shutdown.

Our kids have been out of school for over a month now and have yet to have a real distance learning class.

Folks all around the world have been successfully delivering web based education for decades....  what a joke...

Numerous colleges and universities have been doing "distance learning" for years. Qinghai University of the Nations (= Moo U) in China managed to go from zero to functioning live stream classes in a matter of a few weeks. I suspect there was some lack of will mixed in with this IT bureaucrat's incompetence (who could not have seen this coming a month or more ago?!).
