VA Governor Signs Universal Background Checks, Gun Rationing Bill

Governor Ralph Northam (D) signed legislation Saturday creating universal background checks in Virginia and limiting law-abiding Virginians to one handgun purchase per month.

Northam’s office announced his signature on Senate Bill 70 / House Bill 2, creating the universal checks and thereby outlawing private gun sales.

He signed Senate Bill 69 / House Bill 812 resurrecting Virginia’s “one-handgun-a-month rule to help curtail stockpiling of firearms and trafficking.”

Northam used a tweet to refer to these gun controls as “commonsense gun safety measures,” but he did not mention that they would not have prevented the May 31, 2019 Virginia Beach shooting that he used as an impetus for gun control.

He also signed other controls into law, including requirements that gun owners report stolen firearms within 48 hours of the theft or face “civil penalty.” This puts the onus for a gun theft on the gun owner, rather than the individual who stole the firearm.

Democrats won control of Virginia’s legislature in November 2019 and, just days after their victory, Northam made clear there would be a war on guns. That war originally included all-out bans on certain categories of firearms, on ammunition magazines holding more than ten rounds, and on firearm suppressors. However, Democrats reformulated their push after facing widespread public backlash over their gun control agenda.

I really thought he got 5the message on Lobby day but he does not give a shit since he can't run again for four more years.
Quite a few of the Reps and some members of the senate heard it loud and clear, but were out numbered.

I really do. On Lobby day the streets were packed. There are on Easter Sunday he declared that any open business must allow trannies to use  the bathroom of the gender they identify as. Two of my Gay friends said this was the last straw for them, they will be voting straight Republican from now on.

Virginia being the Mother of Presidents, I had expected Mark Warner to throw his hat in the ring years ago.  But black-face Northam doesn't stand a chance.  (And Tim Kaine makes Joe Biden look like Albert Einstein).

Hard to believe the state of Washington, Madison, Jefferson, et al., now produces idiots like Northam, Warner and Kaine. A sad thing.

Warner was too moderate to even be considered for the top spot.

I strongly disagree. I see him as the front runner in 2024 amongst the Dims.  His record on restricting rights and confiscating/restricting the rights to own guns alone will make him a Dim super star.

Granted,his Va accent is going to hurt him in the North and the West,but no so much the party "muscle" can't slap the voters back into place.

Kaine is my worst fear. He would have the same appeal as Northam,but no southern accent.

She was the one with the 900+ FBI raw data files on ranking and up and coming Republicans, dumping the dirt to the DNC on a LAN when most people didn't know what a LAN was.
She did damage control for him to keep from losing her job, eff him.
She stuck to him through the scandals to be near the halls of power to retain influence and to have the position of "co-president" to use as a springboard. She could be just another divorcee any time, but FLOTUS had juice, and she played it up in the media every bit as well or better than the Wookie, because she didn't have the 'first black first lady' chops to leverage.
She cut a deal with Obama to drop out to be Secretary of State (far better money through controlling international deals, gets her 'foreign policy' ticket punched, and less supervision by the press), all in preparation for a run at the brass ring.

Her foundation is brimming with 'speaking fees' that paid more for an hour or two than most in this country make in a year, and those are just to cover for more circumspect bribes and siphoned off 'relief' funds.

She ain't no slouch, and is not to be underestimated, imho.
