Pelosi: Trump Didn’t Want to ‘Face the Reality’ of Coronavirus — ‘Denial and that Delay Cost Lives’

Thursday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and President Donald Trump’s attempt to blame impeachment for any delays in the response to the coronavirus pandemic is meant to distract from the president not wanting face “reality.”

Mitchell asked, “Do you think it’s fair for Mitch McConnell to suggest that impeachment slowed down the federal response?”

Pelosi said, “That’s just sad. They can’t handle their jobs, I guess, because what are they saying? We ignored it? It was self-evident. Most people knew about it and certainly those of responsibility.”

She added, “So I say of that, either you can’t handle your job, but don’t blame impeachment on that. Just blame it on the fact that you didn’t want to face the reality. That denial and that delay cost lives.”

Government health agency official: Coronavirus 'isn't something the American public need to worry about'

Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said Sunday the American public shouldn’t worry about the coronavirus outbreak in China.

“It’s a very, very low risk to the United States,” Fauci said during an interview with radio show host John Catsimatidis.

“But it’s something that we as public health officials need to take very seriously... It isn’t something the American public needs to worry about or be frightened about. Because we have ways of preparing and screening of people coming in [from China]. And we have ways of responding - like we did with this one case in Seattle, Washington, who had traveled to China and brought back the infection.”

In a month or two we will be past this disease. Treatments have emerged and a vaccine will be developed soon. When this occurs the economy will rebound and Trump will not only win big in Nov., but so will the Pubs. Trump has been great through this whole crisis and we know it.
