Coronavirus: Santa Clara County is reporting 574 cases of COVID-19 and 20 coronavirus-related deaths

The county reported 32 new positive tests of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the count to 574, the most of any Bay Area county and the second-most of any county in the state (Los Angeles).

The public health department also announced one new COVID-19-related death on Friday, bringing the countywide death toll to 20.

More than 50 percent of the 574 positive tests belong to people under the age of 50, although only one person under 50 has died from COVID-19 in Santa Clara County.

The data shows 53 percent of the positive tests are from men and 70 percent of the deaths (14 of 20) are men.

The data also offers graphs of curves that show “total cases by day” and “new cases by day,” which reveals Friday’s 32 new cases are significantly lower than the 83 positive tests recorded Wednesday and the 82 positive tests recorded on Thursday.
