What is it with you ladies? My wife is the same. Even if we were motoring a thousand miles away for a vacation, she’d hop a plane just to get back to her gal.

The trick is to get your appointment BEFORE the vacation.  It takes intricate planning, but it can be done.

MUST have nice hair for those vacation photos, you know??   happy77

Ha!  But what happens when your head starts to itch?  Or if you're hiking into the Grand Canyon and it's 115 at the bottom (true experience), and it gets too hot?

These are the problems we deal with on a regular basis.  Be sympathetic.  wink777

You take it off and fan yourself with it. How could that not be obvious?

In a pinch, you could even use it to clean your windshield.

Nope. Not gonna happen. Women don't go bald, and my head has been cold 6 months a year ever since I went bald, and now I have to wear a hat in the summer to keep from frying what little brain I have left.

Nope,no sympathy here!

I dunno. But I can see it. Never had a barber, but if I did, and I went there more than once, I would probably still be going there now.

Lost my best hardware guy about 5 years ago... RIP. ol Hank must have been standing there one day and they threw a building around him to keep him there. He'd been there since it began. There wasn't a damn thing he didn't know about hardware, and damn little he couldn't tell you about carpentry, cabinet making, plumbing, and the rest.

The place wasn't the same without ol Hank.., They kept going of course. He was their senior employee, but only an employee of course... But they never could replace ol Hank. That hardware store - the one I been going to since Hector was a pup, dried up and blew away last summer.  That ain't right.

Yep. I can see why them ladies keep going to the same place.

Ain't bald... One of the few things I got from my daddy's side is hair that stays put... So far at least...

But I been wearing a black Gus/Montana style Bailey cowboy hat all my life. And you'd think it a poor thing to have in the summer heat... But I swear, it's better than being without.

Random thought:

Has anyone noticed how there have been no reports of any outbreaks tied to the reopen protests? If there were, you know there'd be widespread reports everywhere about them, just like you see any time there is a church outbreak—yet nothing.

Not so random I haven't noticed, too.

You know if it was bad news the press would be shouting it from minarets and rooftops. It is guaranteed they won't do anything to give Americans any confidence in an economic recovery, because that confidence would be a driver in that same recovery. It would be like America coming out of whatever shelter they took for the duration of a bad storm; we'd just roll up our sleeves and rebuild believing that sunny days were ahead.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The coronavirus rumbles on in Connecticut.
Here are some numbers, last updated today:

Date   Total     Daily   Total    Daily
           Cases     Inc.    Deaths  Inc
5/16   36,703   618    3,339     54
5/17   37,419    716    3,408     69
5/18   38,116    697    3,449     41
5/19   38,430   314    3,472     23
5/20   39,017   587    3,529     57
5/21   39,208   191    3,582     53
5/22   39,640   432   3,637     55

For some reason, the "R0" rate is very high here, the second highest state in the country.
Look at this graphic:

At this rate, schools here may not even open in September.
Gonna be "wearin' the mask" here for months to come...

For the most part wearing a mask is a feel good measure... Only N95 type masks come close to being able to filter out something as small as a virus. If the virus is in the air and gets caught in a typical non N95 mask it is going to go through the mask in short order. That's the reality of it...

I guess the idea is to slow the particles down a bunch.  Cloth has zero effect on the droplets, they go right through.

Here is another random thought. WHERE is the news? Hurricane season looks like it is getting an early start.

Propaganda. Misinformation. BS. All covid. Your graphs and related info upthread were telling.

Right.

IMO, there is a consideration that most people would scoff at. There are large numbers of people who have worked, or are still working in many industries without any type of masking or filtering of contaminants. Whether chemical or particulate. For decades.

What I am saying is they have an underlying condition that may not yet be apparent, as in diagnosed and under treatment.

You smoked three packs a day for thirty years but finally quit two years ago. That doesn't go away.

I don't care about covid. I have some of the best masks money can buy. Including full face shields so that things I am exposed to are limited to absorbtion through my skin or even my eyes. I have literally stripped off my clothes to my underwear in my yard and hosed myself off because of the contaminants I have been exposed to. But that exposure isn't going away.

I'll just stop this. Wear a mask against covid if you think it will help you. That belief alone is worth more than a mask.

But when someone demands you wear one..this fight is on.

I know several bald men who put sunscreen on their heads.

And I know quite a few women who lost hair from either pregnancies or bariatric surgery. There’s also a psychiatric disorder called trictillomania where it’s like ocd and you constantly pull out your hair. They don’t even know they’re doing it.

@bigheadfred

Ten years ago this November one of my medications causes me to have total renal failure.

It happened literally over about 12 hours, and by the time I was admitted to the hospital I was unconscious and a priest came into my room and offered my parents last rites. (He didn’t know what faith I was).

I spent six weeks in hospital and got dialysis. Fortunately, everything came back. (Knocking wood)

Now I’m being honest here, if I go out, I stay put for two-three weeks. I go out once a week to take the trash out of course But I keep thinking even though I’m considered healthy, and my BMI is 27 ( thank you quarantine) I’m slightly paranoid to be around people. I just don’t know. So I’ll err on the side of caution.

People here have to remember that this is a global pandemic and things are bad everywhere.  In fact, those of us in Red States are less restricted than most of the world is.

1) The world has has pandemics worse than this in our lifetime and no one has ever reacted this way where you isolate the healthy.

2) Those red states are having the predicted issues with letting their citizens out of the forced internment in their houses and away from their livelihood.

Perhaps Europe should take a clue from the “red states” in the U.S.
