Rahm Emanuel reprises 'never let a crisis go to waste' catchphrase amid coronavirus pandemic

Rahm Emanuel repeated his “never let a crisis go to waste” catchphrase while discussing the coronavirus pandemic.

The former Obama adviser reprised the quote he used during the 2008 financial crisis while speaking on ABC’s This Week on Sunday.

“Never allow a crisis to go to waste,” Emanuel. “Start planning for the future. This has to be the last pandemic that creates an economic depression. We're going to have more pandemics, but this has to be the last economic depression.”

A coronavirus stimulus package has failed to move forward after Democrats blocked the $2 trillion economic relief package, demanding a four-month extension in unemployment insurance, extra money for states to pay for treating residents with the coronavirus, and additional worker protection.

Sen. Ted Cruz slammed Senate Democrats Monday, saying they are using Emanuel’s phrase to advance liberal agendas.
