22 Mar 2020 - 5:45 p.m. CDT

First the bad news....

DJIA Futures-  Down 5%
S & P Futures- Down 5%
NASDAQ Futures- Dow 4.9%

Wanted to share some good news too though...

WTI-  $21.55/bbl. up 8.62% since Friday's close
Gold- $1489/oz.  Not much change since Friday.

I posted this last week from Moodys but I think worth another look for those who missed.

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

The equity declines make perfect sense.  Every day this catastrophic shutdown continues, the less companies are worth.  Before long, the industries on the bottom right will come under pressure.

S+P Index futures went limit down after the open, bounced a bit after the Asian market open, then are flirting with limit down again.

Oil banged down a couple of bucks and is trying to rally.

I don't see alot underneath this market. Tommorow could be just a free float.

There's not much good news out there to warrant any kind of recovery.

No there's not. Tommorow has the potential to be another Black Monday '87 if people panic, and I think they are gonna get squeezed hard.

I know the next bit of serious support is about 1800, so I could definitely see somewhere between BOA and Goldman Sachs being right.

Oil is rallying back now fairly decent, but the S&P futures are just scudding right above limit down.
The Republic is lost.

With a report that unemployment rates could reach 30%, and cases of the Chinese virus continuing to increase, the markets will continue to go down.  Not much good news out there.

Also ... the stimulus package is being stalled.

Today could have been much worse.
Dow down a little shy of 600.

It's not just the airlines hurting.
Amtrak lost so much ridership, they've cut back service between Boston/New York/DC and NY-Albany drastically. Cut out Philly-Harrisburg- Pittsburgh service altogether. Other places in the country as well.

Rather than furlough all the regular job holders, they worked out an agreement with the unions to put everyone onto the "extra boards" (work on call), and thus protect their guarantees (5 days' pay so long as you stay "marked up" and take every call).
