Quote
Americans have little trust in the information they are hearing from President Trump about the novel coronavirus, and their confidence in the federal government's response to it is declining sharply, according to a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.

Just 46% of Americans now say the federal government is doing enough to prevent the spread of coronavirus, down from 61% in February.

Just 37% of Americans now say they had a good amount or a great deal of trust in what they're hearing from the president, while 60% say they had not very much or no trust at all in what he's saying.

Quote
Public health officials got the highest level of trust at 84%, followed by those state and local leaders (72%). Americans were split 50% to 47% on whether they can trust information coming from the news media or not.

  • Didn't vote for McCain Dole Romney Trump !
Not only do I not trust Trump, but my fellow man... It will have to get worse before the average kid who thinks he is invincible starts to take this serious. I can't afford to be callous, not with my lungs and other ailments. I went to the local gas mart today, the lady cashier was laughing it up how dumb everyone is about this whole thing. The whole time she was coughing (while mopping) without even a thought about covering her mouth... All I could think of was washing my change with my pocket sanitizer when she handed it back to me. I almost didn't take it, but it seemed rude (and I waited until I was outside to do my business w/cleaners).
Exodus 18:21 Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders over ....

She might have been coughing just to annoy you (paranoia).  It worked, if so.

Trump scored low on the trust issue even back in the 2016 election cycle so it’s unlikely that went away. That along with the “what is the government not telling us” feeling

Part of being a conservative is having a healthy skepticism of government regardless of who holds the reins of power
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

It would be interesting to take a poll on this site to see how many believe that the Trump administration, specifically, and the federal government, in general, are telling us the  truth of everything they know?

Who considers Donald Trump an honest, trustworthy  person?  Would anybody here, based on his history,  be eager to do business with him?

I believe the poll is accurate. And I bet you would find every other poll showing the same thing. There’s no magic formula he could do when it comes to this virus, and his opposition is only sniping at the sidelines because they can.

Like it or not, Trump does have credibility issues  according to the electorate. And this will probably be another election were both candidates score low on the trustworthiness issue.

I stopped believing opinion polls along about 1980; 2016 ratified my skepticism.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Important things left out of the NPR "reporting" on this...the media is to blame for the mistrust because of their panic based reporting.

I suspect this is why he prefers to be the warm-up act for Pence and company in the daily COVD-19 Pressers.  He comes in, makes a speech, takes few if any questions then hands it over to Pence.  Goodbye.

I believe neither Polls nor Politicians.  It's not a binary, one-or-the-other choice.

I stopped believing opinion polls along about 1980; 2016 ratified my skepticism.

Rush Limbaugh put my finger on it in his early days on EIB Network.  Paraphrased, he said the Press reports on these polls as if they were just dropped on their desks, they never let on that they created the polls in the first place, engineered to give the desired results!

Polls have been unreliable for quite awhile, why oh why should I believe this poll?
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

So the official position  is this poll is wrong?

No idea.  We need to find an Official.

Broadcast bullsh*t then take a poll.

Sounds like a plan.

The only purpose of the poll is to gauge the effectiveness of their propaganda.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

Yes. That is when I first noticed polling being skewed via loaded questions ("Push-polling") and gamed sampling. It was much more subtle then than it came to be in 2015 forward.
