It has been going on for a few days.  I have a heifer there now that was going to be judged on Saturday.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, also called RodeoHouston or abbreviated HLSR, is the largest indoor livestock exhibition and rodeo in the world. It includes one of the richest regular-season professional rodeo events.

Last year attendance was over 2.5 million.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeoâ„¢ scholarship program consists of more than 800 scholarships and more than $14 million awarded in one year. Currently, more than 2,300 students are on Rodeo scholarships, attending more than 80 different Texas colleges and universities. The value of these scholarships is more than $50 million. The Rodeo has presented nearly 19,000 scholarships since the first scholarship was awarded in 1957.

Is there a significant number of Covid-19 cases in Houston? Or is this a reaction to something that has not happened?
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Is there a significant number of Covid-19 cases in Houston? Or is this a reaction to something that has not happened?

Here is why:

"Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said the new presumptive positive case of coronavirus that was reported Tuesday in Montgomery County was not related to international travel, and there was evidence of community spread in that case. That is what led to the decision to cancel the Rodeo, Turner said."

Lack of disclosure in Montgomery County’s first coronavirus case prompts concerns

Houston Chronicle by  Nicole Hensley March 11, 2020

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Man-in-Montgomery-County-s-first-coronavirus-15123091.php

Quote
The county’s first known case involved a man in his 40s with no recent travel history outside Texas, officials in Montgomery County said during a news conference, without revealing the patient attended last month’s Houston Rodeo cookoff. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner disclosed that detail in separate remarks soon after on Wednesday.

The unidentified patient has been hospitalized since Tuesday and those in close contact with him in the northwest part of the county are being monitored, said Melissa Miller, of the Montgomery County Hospital District. The presumptive positive is awaiting additional confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, she said during the news conference.

Miller would not say how long the man has been symptomatic or elaborate, the condition of his health or where he was receiving treatment. She said it was not yet known how he contracted the illness or where. The majority of COVID-19 cases have been in the Houston area and are linked to a Nile river cruise in Egypt. The first COVID-19 diagnosis in the Houston area involved a Fort Bend County man who went on the Nile trek. The case was announced on March 4, about four days after the cookoff ended.

A member of the Houston City Council due to growing concerns over coronavirus.has confirmed that officials with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo have decided to cancel the event

Meetings were held Wednesday morning at NRG and City Hall, where officials made the decision. A news conference is scheduled for noon to provide more details.
From what I read, it was the Houston City Health Dept and the Mayor which shut down the rodeo due to virus concerns, so the Houston Livestock Show Committee had no choice but to comply.

Mayor Sylvester Turner on Wednesday ordered the shutdown of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo due to concerns about coronavirus after a Montgomery County man with no recent travel history tested positive for COVID-19.

As it has been discovered, someone who went to the the cook-off on 2/28/20 now has tested positive for the virus.
This was a person from Montgomery county.
