Can California contain a coronavirus outbreak? It’s ‘anybody’s guess’

Erin Allday Feb. 29, 2020 Updated: Feb. 29, 2020 8:45 p.m.

Dr. Matthew Willis, Marin County’s chief health officer, fielded a phone call Friday from a school superintendent asking the question on many parents’ minds: What should they do if a student shows up for class with signs of coronavirus infection?

The answer, Willis said, depends. If that situation were to play out in the coming days, he might suggest they close the school for two weeks — a drastic measure to stop the virus from getting a toehold in the community.

But a month or two from now? The virus might be circulating widely in the Bay Area by then, and closing down a school for one sick student wouldn’t be worth the headaches.

Is this supposed to be some kind of intellectual challenge?  With all the homeless encampments, sanctuaries, and illegals they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of containing it - unless they lie about the numbers. :tongue2:

This article also relates the problem California will have in dealing with the virus, hygiene.
A masterful post explains why coronavirus in China and America may differ

California has a lot of Chinese and they do not tend to practice hygiene as other ethnic groups.

1. My years of experience with Chinese people - Mainland and Taiwan - differs from that latter statement.

2. California has many Chinese immigrants because of business, especially technology. The Covid-19 outbreak happened just before the Lunar New Year, a time when Chinese people gather for family celebrations. Many Chinese businesses and universities take a weeks-long break before and during that time. IOW, lots of Chinese people travel around this time - home to families and vacation trips. That, not "hygiene", partially explains why California has a high number of Covid-19 patients.

3. Another part of why California has a high number of Covid-19 quarantines/patients is that many Americans evacuated from China were taken to AFBs and ANG bases in California.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Spent time in Mainland China and recall vividly the waste visible, the children with the split pants defecating in streets, and other hygiene issues.  Sp the article does not surprise me.

Likely a combination of more patients there plus the ethnicity issue.
