A German teenager dubbed the “anti-Greta” – climate sceptics’ answer to the schoolgirl activist Greta Thunberg – is set to address the biggest annual gathering of US grassroots conservatives.

Naomi Seibt, 19, who styles herself as a “climate sceptic” or “climate realist”, will this week address the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) near Washington, joining speakers including Donald Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence.

Seibt is in the pay of the Heartland Institute, a thinktank closely allied with the White House that denies established science showing humans are heating the planet with dangerous consequences.

This is another example of political activists touting an unserious, unqualified teenager to promote their ideology. It’s wrong when the Left does it, whether it’s using Thunberg as a messenger for a peculiarly alarmist, doomsday climate change cult with socialist undertones, or gun control advocates using school shooting survivors for their political advantage. But it’s just as wrong, and arguably worse, as they really ought to know better, when conservative groups prop up their own teenage idols.

I do get the Washington Examiner's point, it's wrong when the left does it so it is wrong if the right does it as well, these people are unqualified, still,  it would be something to debate.

Of course, her pictures are at links.

I moved to politics from national, I guess, it can go in a few places.

While I agree that using youths to put the message across is somewhat exploitative, at the same time, does anyone think little Greta has changed any minds and convinced any adults?

Not really.

Greta is there to rally the youngsters around a banner of "You're destroying OUR (meaning the youngsters') planet and stealing our future".
Aiming at that audience reinforces the Leftist education system's mantras of Anthropogenic Climate Change and the draconian totalitarian remedies being sold, in desperation to the target group of children and teens.
Adults see this 14 year old child as a wonderful poster child if they are marching in lockstep, and a bratty nuisance if they disagree.

This is an example of fighting fire with fire, but this young lady, Naomi, at 19, is someone old enough to form an opinion, who would be old enough to vote here, who can present a different viewpoint to that same target audience of children and teens without the automatic rejection of elders so common to the age group.
