LONDON—President Trump offered to pardon Julian Assange if he agreed to cover up the involvement of Russia in hacking emails from the Democratic National Committee, which were later published by WikiLeaks, a London court was told on Wednesday.

Lawyers acting for Assange have argued that the Australian should not be extradited to the U.S. because the case is political not criminal.

Edward Fitzgerald, Assange’s lawyer, said on Wednesday that a message had been passed on to Assange by former Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher.

Not vouching for the source below and by the way, Julian Assange has little credibility unless, they can somehow prove Rohrbacher visited Assange. Something of that nature.

Yes, I've seen this Chuck C. Johnson before, I wasn't aware of who he was.

The Guardian is reporting that lawyers for Julian Assange claim President Trump made an offer to pardon Julian Assange if he would agree to deny that Russia had hacked the DNC’s emails.

The White House has already denied the claim made in the Guardian story:

The president barely knows Dana Rohrabacher other than he’s an ex-congressman. He’s never spoken to him on this subject or almost any subject,” White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, who is traveling with Mr Trump on a West Coast campaigning tour, said in an email.

“It is a complete fabrication and a total lie,” she said of Mr Fitzgerald’s allegation. “This is probably another never ending hoax and total lie from the DNC.”

1. Trump offered Assange nothing;

2. The offer made to Assange was Rohrabacher's offer and initiative, not Trump's;

3. The offer asked for evidence - proof Assange did not get the emails from Russians - not a cover-up.

Gotcha-Trump # 567,890 collapses, unsurprisingly.

I thought I read today..............yeah I was slumming at TOS, that Rohbacher refuted all of this and said he never spoke to Trump about anything to do with Assange?

You’ll want to sit down for this one.

Apparently, that “bombshell” report that Donald Trump had nefariously offered Julian Assange a pardon to cover up for Russian hacking of the DNC was absolute garbage. I know, I know, it’s shocking and totally unexpected that our news media could make such a “mistake.”
