And at the turd-fested TOS, they still call him Lyin' Ted.

Or maybe...even when you don't agree with the person...you can still work to save them because the rule of law and the Constitution are more important than one particular person at one particular time.

I detest Progressive Liberals...hate everything they stand for...but as a soldier I'd lay down my life for every stinking one of them.  If I as a private citizen with a Kentucky issued CCDW was in a store and one of their lives was threatened along with mine by some thug...I'd protect them.

Does that mean I like them or have suddenly had an awakening about Progressive Liberals?  No they will still hate me 5 minutes after I saved their life or was laid to rest in Arlington.

Its about doing the right thing no matter who it's for.

   As some on here forever pontificate,
   It may be much too late
   For us mere mortals to accept our repeated fate.

   We are due to cross the Green Mountain, again.

Even better would have been to push him to accept a SCOTUS nomination.

NOBODY picks a VP running mate that is as popular as they are. They always pick someone nobody really wants as a President in order to keep people from stabbing them in the back and trying to seat the VP.

I'm sure personality plays a part, but usually the VP is someone who can carry a needed state, or voting block.

Kinda like Goldilocks pudding. Not to hot,not to cold,but "just right".

Truth to tell,it's not a bad gig for a politician ready to retire anyhow,and who knows he has no chance of running for and winning the presidency.

Or they pick them to win a certain state.  Why do you think Kennedy picked LBJ?

@skeeter

 "Who is standing in line to take over for him as a US Senator from Texas"? This is not a throwaway question,either.

@sneakypete

No one comes to mind...

@skeeter

I still don't trust him as a political ally,but there can be no question about him being VERY smart,and putting him on the SC would get him out of elective office and allow him to concentrate solely on the law and the Constitution.

The only real question left that needs to be answered first is "Who is standing in line to take over for him as a US Senator from Texas"? This is not a throwaway question,either.

Putting Cruz on the SC is s dumb move and would only serve to silence one of the true Conservatives voices willing to stand up to McConnell and the rest of the establishment Pubs in the Senate.

I think if anyone were to take Cruz'z place as Senator should he choose to move on or move up it would either be Dan Crenshaw or Louie Gohmert.

   I could certainly get behind Gohmert, he would give Mitch heartburn, everyday.

You know, there are probably 3 reasons I would want Guv Good Hair, but I can't even think of one.   :silly:

I don't think Perry did a bad job a gov. But I really don't think he will sell well with the rest of the country. If you are talking about gaurdiisil...that was junk politics.

Hopefully, he's had his last gig as an elected politician.
Remember his big imminent domain push to build the Mexico-to-Canada super NAFTA highway?
Enough people got wind of it to raise hell and put a stop to it.
At the end of the day, they ended up designating existing freeways as part of the "Super Highway".

Think we need to show the non-Texans a "real governor"

Ok, I don't have a dog in this Tex fight.... but since everyone is an expert on Alabama... why not.

Some wrap up smear on Perry should fit in nicely... from the same Wapo author that wrote the smear in our state...

Wonder if anyone will get my pun.... ?
