Donald Trump Jr. poked fun at attorney Michael Avenatti Friday after the former CNN pundit was found guilty on charges that he attempted to extort millions of dollars from sport apparel giant Nike.

“I look forward to Michael’s witty twitter retorts to the jury that just found him guilty in all counts. Though I’m told he is still doing well amongst the Democrat primary contenders,” President Donald Trump’s son tweeted. The tweet included a link to a report on Avenatti’s guilt.

Trump Jr. also suggested in a separate tweet Friday that Avenatti is a “shoe in for the 2064 Democratic nomination.”

The Washington Free Beacon put together a supercut of various media personalities fawning over Avenatti. The video opens with Bill Maher calling Avenatti “Trump’s worst nightmare” to roaring applause. Later, “The View” host Joy Behar tells Avenatti he’s “out saving the country.” Another CNN contributor called him the “savior of the republic,” while Maher is again shown calling the disgraced attorney “a folk hero.”

The video has an entire segment showing pundits giddy over the possibility that Avenatti might “take down Donald Trump,” as Maher put it. He’s called a “beast.” MSBNC host Lawrence O’Donnell says Trump “is afraid to mention [Avenatti’s] name” and is “terrified” of him. Late night host Stephen Colbert called him the “existential threat to the Trump presidency.”

Stormy Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti has earned nearly $175 million in free media during his appearances on cable outlets MSNBC and CNN over the past two months, a Washington Free Beacon analysis shows.

The Washington Free Beacon analyzed 108 appearances by Avenatti on MSNBC and CNN over a 64-day period from March 7 to May 10. To calculate his earned media time, the Free Beacon multiplied the length of his appearances on a program by its "National Publicity Value" determination from media monitoring site TVEyes.com.

The total came out to $174,631,598.07 from at least 65 CNN appearances and 43 MSNBC appearances. Avenatti's favorite shows include CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" (at least 20 interviews), MSNBC's "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" (14), CNN's "New Day" (12), CNN's "Tonight with Don Lemon" (eight), and MSNBC's "Deadline White House" (seven).

As previously reported by conservative media watch dog NewsBusters, Avenatti has appeared on CNN an average of more than once per day during the period under analysis.

CNN has exhibited a fetish for the Stormy Daniels story, particularly for her Trump-smacking lawyer, Michael Avenatti. In less than two months (from March 7 to April 30), Avenatti has been a guest on CNN a total of 59 times – an average of more than once per day.

MRC analysts combed through transcripts of all of CNN’s 2018 coverage looking for references to interviews with Avenatti, and then double-checked using our video archive. Since Avenatti’s first appearance on March 7, he has been interviewed on CNN a whopping 59 times, more than one-third of which (19) were with Anderson Cooper — who, of course, interviewed Stormy Daniels on CBS’s 60 Minutes back in March.
