Border Patrol Will Deploy Elite Tactical Agents to Sanctuary Cities

The Trump administration is deploying law enforcement tactical units from the southern border as part of a supercharged arrest operation in sanctuary cities across the country, an escalation in the president’s battle against localities that refuse to participate in immigration enforcement.

The specially trained officers are being sent to cities including Chicago and New York to boost the enforcement power of local ICE officers, according to two officials who are familiar with the secret operation. Additional agents are expected to be sent to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, New Orleans, Detroit and Newark, N.J.

The move reflects President Trump’s persistence in cracking down on sanctuary cities, localities that have refused to cooperate in handing over immigrants targeted for deportation to federal authorities. It comes soon after the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security announced a series of measures that will affect both American citizens and immigrants living in those places.

This appears to be a way to make illegals thing long and hard about the safety of being in a sanctuary city.

What the SWAT teams should be doing instead is rounding up the officials who have illegally subverted federal laws in harboring illegals.

The Trump administration is reportedly sending elite immigration tactical units to ten of the worst sanctuary cities to track down illegals despite the lack of assistance of local police.

The specially trained officers, that are usually tasked with dealing with cartel criminals, are being sent in to boost the capabilities of local ICE officers in the ten targeted cities.

The administration is reportedly fanning out with 100 agents from the elite U.S. Border Patrol tactical unit known as BORTAC.

The US Border Patrol will be deploying elite tactical agents to sanctuary cities as a “part of a supercharged arrest operation.”

US Attorney General Bill Barr recently escalated the Trump Administration’s war on sanctuary cities.

From February through May, the agency will deploy 100 agents, including officers from the elite tactical unit “BORTAC” to work with ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement].

    Lawrence Payne, a spokesman for Customs and Border Protection, confirmed the agency was deploying 100 officers to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which conducts arrests in the interior of the country, “in order to enhance the integrity of the immigration system, protect public safety, and strengthen our national security.”

    The deployment of the teams will run from February through May, according to an email sent to Customs and Border Protection personnel, which was read to The New York Times by one official familiar with the planning.

Ummmm, this is an important action, but not important enough to have four threads about it. Please, folks, use the Search function to see if a story has a thread about it. In this case, "tactical" was a good search word.

This is a step in the right direction, even if it has yet to go "far enough".

Far enough means confronting and arresting those municipal/county/state officials who promulgate and enforce "sanctuary" policies, on charges of sedition against the established immigration laws of The United States.

They must be physically removed  from their offices, and federal agents should be installed in their places to put things "back on track".

What I'm suggesting is no less than a "Radical Reconstruction" of such places, to force them "back into the fold" of lawful immigration policies (not to mention other "policies" that were germane to traditional America).

If traditional-minded Americans "want those states back", nothing less will accomplish this goal...

It’s about to get real for America’s so-called “sanctuary cities,” local governments that refuse to cooperate with those who enforce federal immigration laws. The Trump administration is deploying 100 tactical Border Patrol officers to help Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials take illegal immigrants in those cities into custody.

The move should put to rest any questions about the administration’s commitment to enforcing the rule of immigration law. It’s the immigration equivalent of storming the beaches of Normandy.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Chicago will not be bullied in response to President Donald Trump’s planned crackdown on illegal immigration.

The New York Times first reported the president ordered elite units of border patrol agents to assist Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, in nine sanctuary cities across the country, including Chicago. These agents are more commonly used in drug raids and dangerous customs work along the southern U.S. border, but will be in Chicago and elsewhere from now until May.

In response to the news, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot released a statement and posted a video on social media calling Trump a “bully.”
