@PeteS in CA@mystery-ak @Gefn If the schools for babies through 5 yrs. old were Montessori schools and I had a child of that age, and I worked out of the home every day, I would put that child in that school. Here is why:
I had a job as a Psychological Examiner for a Montessori school. I tested every child who was admitted to the school. This information gave the teachers an idea where the children were on the IQ scale plus what level they were on in scholastic learning.
I watched the classes and saw these little children loving what they were doing. Around the room were "work" projects that required tactile (touching) "work". The children walked around and chose whatever they wanted to do. There was no organized "sit down and shut up", do what I say, class.
There was no doubt in my mind that these little children would excel when they entered regular school. By the time they were five years old, they could sit in regular class style of public schools with all their knowledge they got in Montessori school.
The director/owner of this school sought children of all races. There were American Indians, blacks, whites, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, North/South Koreans, and others I do not remember as that was many years ago.
If Biden's schools for small children were Montessori schools, I would encourage parents to place their children in these schools if both parents worked.
Two stories from the time I worked there:
I am going to test this small child, about three years old. I lay out pieces of a test in front of the child. He picks up some pieces and throws them at me. I had to laugh - what a great response. What would you say about this child based on what he did?
2. I am going to test a certain child and go where he is, in the smallish gym room. These are small children, about 4 years old, three of them sitting on the floor and one boy lying on the floor with no clothes on. A teacher is not in there at that time. A child's play medical bag is open and one has the play stethoscope on, putting it in various places on the naked boy.
3. I quietly leave the gym and get a teacher, explain what is happening, and she goes to the gym room and calmly puts the boy's clothes on while explaining why they should not take clothes off when using the stethoscope.
