I support Trump, and I'm all for punching back at the Dems.

But...is it really a good idea to be doing that at a prayer breakfast?  He's speaking on that same topic more fully later today.  Don't see why he had to inject politics into that particular gathering.

Maybe quit trying to go for some kind of poorly constructed "gotcha" on me that you think is witty?

We piss and moan all the time when some Dem politician goes into a house of worship or some religious forum and starts conducting some form of a political rally.

Is it really too much to ask that the President not do the same at the National Prayer Breakfast?

Well here's the problem with that.   I saw nothing said by Trump in that Prayer Breakfast that was objectionable...

despite the hypocritical bleatings of Nancy Pelosi....

and despite yours right here.

I had the same thought. But is it politics, or is it truth?

Of course you didn't.

Either way...it wasn't the time nor the place for it.

So we should agree to disagree...

per usual.

But seriously.....

you do seem ...uh.... conflicted at times on the subject of Donald J. Trump.   I can't help but notice.

You do know who Trump is up against?

Maybe something attributable to Goldwater can explain Trump’s actions:  “Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue.”

Never let up on the democrats, the most corrupt politicians in America.

It's ok.   He is, literally, agreeing with Nancy Pelosi (and no doubt, with all of the DemocRats).
He'll have to own that.

Righteous indignation, perhaps?   Not like Trump doesn't have a "right" to that feeling.

Quote
Righteous indignation is typically a reactive emotion of anger over mistreatment, insult, or malice of another. It is akin to what is called the sense of injustice. In some Christian doctrines, righteous anger is considered the only form of anger which is not sinful, e.g., when Jesus drove the money lenders out of the temple (Gospel of Matthew 21).

And since the rats inject politics into EVERY aspect of EVERY thing on the planet....

he probably considers this just his form of fighting back.   I'd rather have him fight back against the radical left than bend over, back down and/or say nothing (like GWB always did).

Trump, with his unorthodox approach, is changing the paradigm in DC. If it's not clear to everyone by now, it should be. Rather than constantly trashing his style let's all just see how it plays out.

How it plays out is exactly what they're (the RL) worried about...lol.   A predicted Trumpian landslide next November.

My first impression was that he came across  humbled and sincere.  He and his family have been wrongfully attacked and the person who is instrumental in the attack is sitting right there.  He is correct she hides behind her faith.  He didn't name her in particular, but he merely pointed out the hypocrisy of what she does and says, yet she attends to attend a prayer breakfast.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Sort of agree... it is cringy, however, she did a presser right after and railed against him again with the usual vocabulary of colorful words. The problem he has, if he does not strike first and try to keep the liberals down, they will nail him and he is busy enough he does not get a shot at them...

Brutal.

Brutal yes, BUT you cannot ever embarrass a POLITICIAN in any way. She just sitting their LHAO internally thinking I really got to you and believes she is the BEST ever at getting to TRUMP. She HAS NO CONSCIENCE, INTELLIGENCE, COURAGE, MORALS and certainly does not care what YOU the Peasants think of HER. In her world as well as any politicians world the only thing that will ever bother her is a INVESTIGATION and indictment involving their criminal activity and their family involvement. She also knows that will NOT happen and they have a protection element in the AG office.  :patriot:

Trump is different. He won't surrender any battlefield. The Rats will trot out some ignorant child to make a point and he will shoot back. The Rats will bring out some victim and he will shoot back. The Rats will pretend to be sincere in a faith setting and he will call them out. It may seem impolite to call out Romney and Pelosi at the prayer breakfast, but the Rats have used these settings for years to denigrate their enemies.

Sorry, I still don't buy that was an appropriate forum.  Sure, the Dems have no decorum and will gleefully violate norms to slam Trump.  But the reason you shouldn't politicize religious events is not out of respect for your political foes, but out of respect for the religious moment itself.

And as for the idea that it is okay to "speak truth" anywhere, that's simply ridiculous.  I'm sure all of us can think of plenty examples of "truths" that you should refrain from speaking in places like churches, at weddings, funerals etc..

All things considered.... I'm thinking that American Christians (and God) will give Trump a pass on it.  In fact, I'm betting on it.   Tune in on November 3.

I give him a "pass" on it as well in the sense that it doesn't move the needed for me at all in terms of continuing to support him.  I'm just saying I think it was inappropriate.

He sounds stuffy. I think he must have a cold.

His words were fine, but it wasn't the appropriate venue for it.  Part of what made his SOTU so successful was because he didn't rail about the sham impeachment during that speech.  That wasn't the right place for it, and this wasn't either.
