GOP senators request details on Hunter Biden's travel for probe

Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Ron Johnson (Wis.) are requesting details on the travel records for former Vice President Joe Biden's son Hunter as they turn their focus past the impeachment trial.

Grassley and Johnson — the chairmen of the Senate Finance and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committees, respectively — sent a letter to Secret Service Director James Murray saying they were requesting the documents as part of a probe into "potential conflicts of interest posed by the business activities of Hunter Biden and his associates during the Obama administration."

"We write to request information about whether Hunter Biden used government-sponsored travel to help conduct private business, to include his work for Rosemont Seneca and related entities in China and Ukraine," the two senators added.

The Republican chairmen of two Senate committees wasted no time after President Donald Trump’s impeachment acquittal Wednesday before opening up a new area of inquiry related to Hunter Biden’s foreign business activities.

Minutes after the Senate voted to acquit Trump, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson of Wisconsin released a letter they sent to the director of the Secret Service requesting Biden’s travel records during the time when his father was vice president.

“We write to request information about whether Hunter Biden used government-sponsored travel to help conduct private business,” the senators wrote to Secret Service Director James M. Murray.

They say they want records indicating whether the younger Biden had Secret Service protective detail while his father Joe Biden was in office. They also want records of Hunter Biden’s travel while he received any protection.

The Republicans focused the inquiry on Hunter Biden’s work in China and Ukraine.

They noted that Hunter Biden joined his father on a flight to China on Air Force Two in December 2013, after his firm, Rosemont Seneca, entered a joint venture with China-based Bohai Capital to form BHR.

Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Ron Johnson (Wis.) sent a letter to Secret Service Director James Murray on Wednesday, requesting the agency to provide details on Hunter Biden's use of government security and travel accommodations while conducting business deals during the time his father, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, was vice president.

Grassley is chairman of the Finance Committee, and Johnson heads the Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs. The committees are "reviewing potential conflicts of interest posed" by Biden's business dealings in Ukraine and China and want to know whether or not those relationships were fostered on the public dime.

The GOP senators requested that the Secret Service:

1. Please provide the protective detail that Hunter Biden received while his father was Vice President.

2. Please provide a list of all dates and locations of travel, international and domestic, for Hunter Biden while he received a protective detail. In your response, please note whether his travel was on Air Force One or Two, or other government aircraft, as applicable and whether additional family members were present for each trip.

The Daily Wire noted that the letter from Grassley and Johnson was sent "immediately following President Donald Trump's acquittal in the Senate on Wednesday." The chairmen asked that Director Murray provide the records no later than Feb. 19.

The Senators have finally realized they have to push, or be pushed very hard.  If the Pubbies have decided "this means war," then we are in for some interesting times.

I hope they see how Trump responds when pushed. He attacks and doesn't let up. He also will confront people directly, something the Rats don't know how to deal with.

If the Pubs attack the systemic corruption of the Rats the country will love them for it!
