Ohio judge uses a hunch to call ICE on undocumented defendants: 'Haven't got one wrong yet'

Quote
Now a common pleas judge in Hamilton County, Ohio, has said that when he suspects a defendant is undocumented, he calls Immigration and Customs Enforcement himself.

Judge Robert Ruehlman told The Cincinnati Enquirer on Wednesday: "They're committing a crime by being here illegally, and then, if they're in front of me, they've allegedly committed a felony."

And how does he know someone is here illegally? If the person needs an interpreter, is accused of drug smuggling or has international connections, Ruehlman said he acts on his hunch.

Maybe it's adequate in Cincinnati, but people for whom English is their 2nd language and who are here legally are numerous here in Silicon Valley. Such a person would be insane to forgo an interpreter while participating in legal proceedings.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

...and when ICE shows up, they can explain it to ICE, and show off their H1B.

If you're here legally...then learn English and forgot the interpreter.  America is your country now.  English is what's spoken here.

It's just that simple.

For business and ordinary daily stuff, well and good. ETA: Actually, not well and good. In many parts of the country - not just Silicon Valley or California - businesses that tell customers "Speak English!" tend to do less well that they could ... or go under.

In court, where misunderstanding a word or confusing singular-plural or incorrect verb tense could send a person to jail or a bankrupting civil judgment (and plenty of prosecutors and civil lawyers willing to take advantage of such mistakes), no, it's not that simple.

Someone who speaks English as a first language will get pounded in a courtroom if he doesn't have an advocate who speaks fluent legalese.

Just like showing your license, registration and proof of insurance. If you got 'em you got no worries.

AKA a lawyer. Now imagine a legal immigrant whose first language is other than English not only having ordinary vocabulary, metaphor, and grammar problems, but dealing with legalese, which has its own specialized vocabulary and usage.

Then there's ASL ... . I had a coworker who was also a certified ASL interpreter and could interpret in court. One time she was interpreting for a person who got very POed at the judge. The person was signing, "Tell the judge to shove it __ ___ ___!" and the judge soon noticed a lot more signs used than words she spoke. She laughed about it later in telling about it, but aaawwwwwk-ward!

It used to be that to become a citizen you had to read write and fluently speak English.  But that's also because you had to take the oath of citizenship in English only as well.  Thanks to Clinton all that changed.

Try going to the country of origin for someone who is in this country demanding to speak in their native tongue and pulling the same stunt...see how far you get.

Businesses that "go under" as you say for wanting customers to speak english is just another sign of how far political correctness and the disease of Liberalism has infected our society.
