Democratic impeachment managers say Trump acts 'the way that guilty people do'

House Democrats responded to President Trump’s legal team by arguing Trump does not behave like someone who is innocent of the charges against him because he has blocked key testimony and evidence.

“President Trump engaged in a cover-up that itself establishes his consciousness of guilt,” the seven Democratic impeachment managers wrote Monday in a nine-page document. “Innocent people seek to bring the truth to light. In contrast, President Trump has acted in the way that guilty people do when they are caught and fear the facts.”

Democrats filed the document as an “answer” to Trump’s brief denouncing the House impeachment as “frivolous” and “dangerous." Trump’s legal team wrote in the 110-page brief that a conviction in a Senate trial “would permanently weaken the presidency and forever alter the balance among the branches of government in a manner that offends the constitutional design established by the founders.”

The Senate trial will begin Tuesday at 1 p.m. with a vote to set the terms of the proceeding.

Trump acted the way presidents should act when congress threatens to usurp executive authority.

But that sails right over the heads of the ignorant half of the country.

This is where the Democrats are in terms of judicial process.
If you do not 'prove' that you are innocent, then you must be guilty.
If you 'act' guilty, according to the prosecutor's personal opinion, then you must be guilty.
The Democrats are willfully flushing hundreds of years of jurisprudence, from Europe to America, down the toilet.
The Democrats really are in a very real way bringing back the inquisition.

Trump's response to the Senate's summons has two foci, the illegitimacy of the House's kangaroo court; facts that disprove the House's articles. Guilty people try to avoid, not focus on facts.
