Puerto Rico Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced fired the island's emergency management director on Saturday, after a video showing aid sitting unused in a warehouse went viral on social media. Some of the aid has allegedly been sitting in the warehouse since Hurricane Maria struck in 2017.

"There are thousands of people who have made sacrifices to help those in the south, and it is unforgivable that resources were kept in the warehouse," Vázquez said in a statement.

Garced said in a statement that she has ordered Secretary of State Elmer Roman to conduct a "thorough investigation into the mishandling of emergency aid in a warehouse in Ponce," CBS News correspondent David Begnaud reports.

Gee! Some of that aid Trump supposedly didn't send has been sitting in a Puerto Rican warehouse for over two years. Who'd athunk it? The question seems to be whether the aid was withheld as a political act or whether it was sheer incompetence (corruption seems unlikely, since it's still there).

Who was paying this warehouse to hold this aid?  Were they eventually going to sell the contents and pocket the $$$?  Are there any more warehouses on the island filled with hurricane aid?  The Governor should have every warehouse on the island inspected.

President Trump was taken to task by the media for saying “corrupt or incompetent” Puerto Rico officials badly mismanaged relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Maria, but it turns out that he was on the money.

The island has been rocked by the discovery of a warehouse full of emergency supplies that have been sitting untouched since the massive storm in 2017, as an angry mob stormed the location, according to the New York Post.

Video shared online captured the reaction when the doors were opened:

That's a context the MSM won't give unless it's unavoidable.

Each item, individually, is Holy-Crap-Grade! I suspect "Emergency Equipment" includes things like generators and parts to repair/restore electrical, water, and sewage systems. And as @LadyLiberty posted, how many more such warehouses are filled with life-saving stuff due to some combination of ineptitude, corruption, and partisan sabotage (the narrative that Maria was Trump's Katrina was being published/broadcast before Maria cleared the island, IIRC).

My emphasis. Translation, "Oh crap, we got caught! But the stuff is expired." Maybe if the stuff had been distributed 2+ years ago when they arrived they would have been used instead of left to ROT!

Yeah the "it's expired" excuse doesn't hold water.  I've never seen an expiration date on baby wipes.  Or emergency equipment.

The current governor has been in office only since 8/2/2019, the result of the previous governor resigning. She is not the person the former governor wanted to succeed him. So who knows, maybe she'll bring some improvement. She seems to have canned some fairly high level bureaucrats.

Thank you - That was a question for me.

This seems excellent! Perhaps a public apology to Tump from the new governor might be in order... And a good faith offer to work in conjunction with relief agencies, to include their own representatives and accounting onsite.

Yes, she was reluctant.  It wasn't because she thought she wasn't competent, but that she felt her office was not a good one for succession.  One can say, she was drafted.  I wish we had more reluctant politicians.
