Y'know the NTer's will deny it till the cows come home, but in their zeal to trash Trump they really are in effect defending the Clintons. I'm sure Bill Clinton would LOVE for people to believe he is guilty of nothing more than Trump is guilty of.

Hogwash.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

That’s about the size of it.

Since I always thought politicians are generally devoid of character, that was never an issue for me (this is just me).  Criminality is another matter, and in that regard there is an ocean of difference between Clinton and Trump.  As a law-based society, that's much easier to measure.  Character is like opinions...everybody has one.  It's subjective.

Leaving aside the effect each as leader had/is having on the nation, frat boys and serial sexual harrassers/felons aren't equivalent.

You can discern the difference, can't you?

No, I can't. Neither of them is a benign, aged "frat boy." Trump and Clinton have serial abused less powerful women all their adult lives. If one of their victims was someone you loved, would you like others to describe him as a "frat boy?" 40+ women aren't lying about Trump any more than they are lying about Weinstein, Cosby, Lauer or Clinton. There are plenty of billionaires and celebrities who somehow navigate their way through life without having dozens of accusations of rape and sexual assault.

Therefore, if a person who decided to conveniently forget that they considered Bill Clinton morally unworthy 20 years ago, now believes that character doesn't matter, that's their choice. To me, "I didn't elect a priest" sounds like some bullsh*t a Clinton defender would have said in the 90's and neither Trump, Clinton or anyone else is worth spitting in the face of my ancestors, my parents, those who contributed to my upbringing, or my children, by abdicating the core values instilled in me and which have served me well thus far. Some things should be non-negotiable. I don't care how many scary caravans, Deep State villains, Squad congresswomen, or Hungarian octogenarians that Hannity tries to frighten me with.

Why are you here, @FeelNoPain ?

Because it isn't a mindless echo chamber.

Why are you here?

I apologize. I should not presume the tenor of your question.

I am a man who spends a good deal of his time around urban blacks and Latinos and I see the pernicious effects of the Left's governance on a daily basis. I see the designed dependency, the tacitly condoned unaccountability, irresponsibility, lack of standards, criminality, etc and I know it is destruction itself--calculated or otherwise.

But, I do not think you can address one without the other. The other is the moral rot. The ethical vacuum. Trump lacks the moral credibility, maturity, empathy, or gravitas to lead, to unite, to foster. So, he demeans, degrades, bullies, lies, whines, self-serves, and further divides. If one feels that Trump is "on my side" then one ignores how defective he demonstrates that he is on a daily basis. One believes that everyone else is wrong ("Never Trumpers!), everyone else is corrupt ("Swamp Dweller!"), everyone else is lying ("The 40+ lying women!"), everyone else is out to get him ("Deep State!"), every story that doesn't paint him with slavish adoration is libel (Fake News!"). "Lock her up! Build the Wall! Drain the Swamp! MAGA! YEEEEEEARGH!!!!!"

So, that's where I'm at. I'm here because I agree with the majority of denizens of this board on almost every issue except the Trump cognitive dissonance.

With all due respect @skeeter I just don't see it that way.  Some of us NT'ers haven't wavered on the despicability of the Clinton's, just, still, haven't forgotten how Trumper's crammed him down our throat in 2016 when there was a much better, proven Conservative, and in spite of the twisted logic on display here, ELECTABLE, alternative

Now most any Conservative has 'no choice' but to dance with the one who brung us and he will probably get my vote in Texas.

They sure don't.

Just as many Trump supporters correctly found Bill Clinton to be a shameless, morally unqualified pervert, inveterate lying, adulterous degenerate, serial sexual assaulter of women with too deficient of a character to be president.

With Trump, they don't seem to mind.

I know, right?

3. Since Trump hasn't committed any crime, the GOP should stop fighting against calling witnesses.

I wasn't aware that Republicans were fighting against calling witnesses.  It has been my understanding that since Day One, Republicans have been asking for Ciaramella, Schiff, Biden, etc., to testify.  Where do you get this crazy idea that Republicans are fighting against witness testimony?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

I'm fine with witlesses, provided Trump gets to call them too.  I can easily envision the Senate allowing Schitt's witlesses, but not Trump's.  Rand Paul has said McConnell is considering a plan to allow the full Senate to vote on every witness, and that Trump witnesses will never get 51 votes because of the Nevers in the Senate, including the Usual Suspects like Murkowski and Romney.

They voted on witnesses after the first phase of the Impeachment trial with Clinton as they will now.  There is still plenty of opportunity to screw the pooch, and McConnell has floated the idea of voting on each witness separately.  We may have the same rules for the first part that are the same as for Clinton, but there is no guarantee that will hold for the next phase.

Pshaw. Why should Trump be constrained by precedent? Let's have a spectacle, baby!

I want them all. Parnas, Hunter, Eric C., Schifty-Schiff, Mikey P., Big Mikey P, Bolton, Sleepy Joe, Nunes, Nunes' cow, etc.

Think of the ratings. When Trump does something, he does it big!

Works for me.  How refreshing it would be to have actual witnesses considering how Trump was impeached by a House Judiciary Comittee that failed to call a single one.

I feel you, @FeelNoPain .  I was in your position during the Bush Sr. & Clinton years.  I learned that people are not looking at the President as a role model.

I didn't vote for Trump.  I don't support a lot of things he does (#1 deficit spending).  However, I am not going to ignore the good things he does simply because he's been married three times or got it on with a porn star.  Everyone has flaws.  The Bible is filled with flawed people.  But I will always count myself as #NeverLiberal - not #NeverTrump.  When Trump signs a budget that is $2 trillion in the red, I will scream bloody murder.  But when he strengthens religious freedom, cuts red tape, or restores State's rights, then he gets bigtime kudos.
