I'm stunned. Shocked, even.

It's only 47%? Among young Democrats. That means 53% of young Democrats, the least patriotic of any demographic in America, still prefer this country. I would have never thought!

GMTA.  Ya know, that was my first thought when I spotted this story.... :yowsa:

@jmyrlefuller

I'm wondering what it would take to get that 47 percent to leave the country,IE "Make America Great Again."

Nothing wrong with Texas, except for that rot working it's way out from the universities and that border thingy with Mexico.

Same dang thing up here, man... College towns (Missoula, Bozeman) are whacko liberal - as is Helena, the state capitol...  The big towns (Billings, Great Falls, Butte) east of the hump too... There's a fair Conservative conclave in the Bozeman area, but for the most part, the farmers east of the hump vote Dem. West of the hump is generally hard core Conservative, with a smattering of liberal conclaves.

Big part of the East side is reservation, too. Don't know why they vote Dem, excepting for handouts and habit. The oil patch is pretty much GOP country.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_United_States_presidential_election_in_Montana

I don't think that's right... We have had a Democrat senator elected east of the mountains as long as I have been alive. Currently Testercle. Eastern farmer, by the way... Whacko-liberal as the day is long. If they come from east of the hump, they will be Dem and they will get elected.

The other way around on the west side... Pretty much if they come from west of the hump, they won't get elected unless they're a Republican.

Same goes in the house, and the governorship is a craps-shoot.

That was the presidential election. in the others (governor) https://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/governor/montana/

House of Representatives: https://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/house/montana/

2018 general election (MT legislature) it seems the seats went to Democrats in the bigger towns (in the west), which outnumber the eastern county Republicans. https://sosmt.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018GeneralReportStateCanvassLegislative.pdf

We see much the same in ND, where the biggest cities and Indian Reservations vote Democrat, and the rest of the state, (where people make their living off the land) tends to vote GOP.

As a point of order, Dem or not, nobody's gonna take their coyote killers away. This state will lock down around the R2KBA. Schwietzer, a recent Democrat governor, was the one that gave DC the finger on in-state firearm and ammo sales. ~nullified~ that nonsense.

It's pretty common with Huskies, especially in a group... They'll get in a pissin match and throw a melee... And you pretty well have to wade in there and beat em apart with a club before any of them get dead.  I got pretty good at stitchin em.

Same takin the stitching back out... Just hog tie em, sit on their head, and get to work

Funny you should say that @roamer_1 . The dog I mentioned was a husky/wolf hybrid.  happy77 (one of my fav pups of all time)

Same here @berdie
Not all, but most of mine have been Wolf/Malamute/G.Shepherd crossed. That's a pretty common hillbilly mix up this way, and one that I prefer...

I would bet that's why many Dem voters vote the way they do...their parents did, so they're going to vote that way as well.
My parents were strong Dems, so I voted that way for many years.
My older brother, who had broken earlier,  questioned why I continued to vote for a bunch of increasingly anti-American pols.
I had no good answer...he was right.
But it took until Slick Willy before I broke even though I was questioning myself why I continued to vote for Dems.

For me, early on, it was team playing... Pulling for the big rhinestone 'R' largely because my Old Man did. My family have been entrepreneurs since they stepped off the boat, so 'business friendly' was the thing...

But I threw my first vote for Reagan, so I was extremely conscious of the Christian Right coming over from the Democrats, and the burgeoning of the Right to Life as a first principle bringing them over, embracing the principles of the Judeo-Christian Ethic, part and parcel at the Conservative table... And in those heady days, Reagan being from the right wing of the Republican party, with the name of Goldwater appended, there was little that rang any civil-libertarian alarm bells...

So forgive me if I was a little thoughtless at the time. Pulling for the big rhinestone 'R' was at least akin to pulling for Conservatism... But that is certainly not the case any longer. And maybe never was.

You got my point....

There is nothing wrong with trying to get somebody good, if they're in the Primaries, but having an incumbent precluded that in '20.  I mean, really...Sanford ()?  Now the only "acceptable" candidates are third party, which at least gives you somebody to vote for, as long as you don't seriously expect to see that person in office.
