Actually this is a good, borderline great thing. First witness to be called must be the "Whistleblower," Followed by Schiff, Both Bidens, Jerry Nadler, and Pelosi. Have Trey Gowdy or Ted Cruz question them for hours on end, make sure it is televised, and not just on C-Span. Lett he public see just how weak the charges are and just how guilty the Bidens are. Once the Bidens are done being questioned have the FBI there it put them in cuffs and leg irons to be frog marched out.
IMO, this should be dragged out as long as possible. That would leave Biden, Buttigieg, and the two billionaires as the only ones campaigning for the nomination. The Senators are forced to put aside all business while the trial is ongoing. After a few days of being off the campaign trail, they will become desperate, looking to Mitch to cut a deal to end this charade.
It's not like there's any pressing business before Congress that can't be handled with a CR come October, November, or December. That's how they've been conducting business for far too long.
