John Cardillo  @johncardillo
Herman Cain survived stage 4 colon cancer, and as a result had a comprised immune system as do most cancer survivors who undergo treatment.
Shame on those blaming Trump's Tulsa rally. There's no basement to the depravity of these people.

@mountaineer

No one really knows for sure how Mr. Cain contracted COVID.  Maybe the Tulsa rally, maybe standing in line at the supermarket checkout too close to someone who was COVID positive, who knows.  All this arguing over where he caught it is really ridiculous in my unsophisticated opinion.

But yes, as a cancer survivor plus at his age, he was far more likely to die from COVID if he contracted it and that's what happened.  Should he have stayed home from the rally?  Well, I can understand not wanting to be confined at home.  I did that for about 12 weeks because I am high risk but by the middle of May, I had had enough.  This morning I had breakfast with someone also at high risk.  My friend and I are both old; she has emphysema while I have diabetes, heart and kidney issues, etc. etc. etc.  But dang it, enough is enough with these lockdowns.  Forcing people to stay at home away from the activities they enjoy and the loved ones they want to be close to is just going to drive them off the deep end.  I'm firmly convinced more people will die from suicide resulting from the intense mental pressure of being confined so long than by the virus itself.

So enough with this business of blaming Mr. Cain for his own demise or Trump for holding the rally Cain attended.  A good man is gone from us.   Who the hell cares how he contracted COVID?    Can't people just say rest in peace or say nothing at all and be done with it?

That was a recruitment of Covid-infected individuals for attending the Trump rally in Tulsa which Herman Cain attended.
so....murder?

A lengthy Twitter tribute to Herman Cain from his former campaign spokes person, https://twitchy.com/samj-3930/2020/07/30/they-didnt-know-him-i-did-ellen-carmichael-tweets-heartbreaking-yet-lovely-thread-remembering-herman-cain/ . Excerpting it would not do it justice.

Cain was also traveling around Arizona—where and while cases were rising rapidly—a few days before he got sick.

@bigheadfred

AFAIK,nobody has been claiming Herman Cain was a deity,but he was a good man and a conservative,and the fact that he was a prominent black man exposed the lie that all Republicans/Conservatives are racists.

He is going to be missed for both reasons,and more.

@jmyrlefuller

I am no doctor and don't play one on teebee,but I think there can be little doubt that both his age and the fact that he has been battling cancer and been getting chemo treatments had a lot to do with him taking sick and dying. I can tell you from personal experience that chemo will kick your ass and make you as weak as a baby,and him being in his 70's meant he was probably weaker than most due to his age alone. Age AND chemo is a killer.

Thank you for posting the link to the tribute.  I'm not one to cry much, but that had me blubbering.

Cain was one of the good guys in politics where good guys are few and far between.  Alas, not too many people will know it.  The local news here was more focused on John Lewis' never-ending funeral; Cain's passing was barely mentioned.

Too bad this tribute to Cain can't be required reading.  People should know more about him than they do.

Brings up an interesting question: which person was better for black Americans...Lewis or Cain?
Naturally, all the libs/leftists would name Lewis as the personage who best helped black Americans progress and disdain Cain as an un-woke black person who was just a lackey for the white power structure.
The truth would be the opposite. By being a successful businessman and person who loved his country Cain was the far better example than someone like Lewis who did something honorable early in his life and the rest of his life did his best (or worst) to keep chains on the people he supposedly served.

Bill Mack
Songwriter and overnight radio host dies at 88

William Mack Smith Jr. spent most of his career as the "Midnight Cowboy," broadcasting overnights on WBAP in Fort Worth, Texas targeting an audience consisting mostly of truckers. His show ran from 1969 to the early 2000s, by which point he moved to satellite radio. (Mack would continue a country music countdown show in syndication for several years afterward.)

As a songwriter, Mack was planted firmly in the traditionalist country music vein and had several hits, most prominently "Drinking Champagne" for George Strait and "Blue" for LeAnn Rimes.

Mack died July 31 from a combination of old age-related diseases exacerbated by coronavirus.

@goatprairie

If this were still the 1950's,it would be Cain by a margin so large it wouldn't have been considered to have been a serious contest. Back then the majority of blacks wanted to be accepted as equals and recognized as respectable people.

Then the 60's came along and the Dims bought/blackmailed the black preachers who were always the leadership,and things went all to hell for the blacks and everybody else. The left sucked them into welfare dependency instead of becoming successful independent citizens,and the resentment and hatred of white people became pretty much mandatory.

Sadly,I don't see it getting any better in my lifetime.

AFAIK, Lewis role in the 60s Civil Rights movement was significant and largely good. But if, "What have you done for me lately?" is the standard, Cain's corporate and philanthropic work in the past couple of decades has been infinitely better than the past two decades of Lewis' race-baiting.

'Cocoon' actor Wilford Brimley dies age 85

Quote
Actor Wilford Brimley, best known for his roles in the Oscar-winning movie “Cocoon” and “The Firm” has died at the age of 85, U.S. media reported.

Utah-born Brimley found his way into the film industry through stunt work around horse riding, before taking on successively larger roles in his 40s and 50s which brought him fame playing sometimes gruff but lovable moustachioed seniors.

Brimley also did tv commercials for Quaker Oats during the 1980s and 1990s.  Rest in peace.

To the younger generation, Brimley is best remembered for his commercials for Liberty Medical, reminding us to "check your blood sugar and check it often." The longtime diabetic popularized the unusual pronunciation of diabetes... "diabeetus."

Mr. Brimley also had a small (but memorable) role in "The Electric Horseman"...
