I'm listening to the 1946 AFRS dance party now. Quite a few familiar tunes are in there. Of course, those were the hits of the day, too. And yet it's so much more... listenable... than the New Year parties the major TV networks try to force down our throats.

Swing is just a wonderful genre.

If only they'd traded a couple of the mush-mallow portions for some more jazz! (I'd have traded half a dozen Henry Kings and that many Carmen Cavallaros for, say, a Dizzy Gillespie or a Sy Oliver or a Charlie Barnet or a Claude Thornhill on that show!)
