California Governor Blames Trump, Republican Party for State's Homeless Problems

The sixth Democratic presidential debate took place Thursday night in Los Angeles, one of several California cities with out-of-control homeless problems. California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has called the state's growing homeless crisis a "national emergency," watched from the audience at Loyola Marymount University. After the debate, a reporter asked the governor why is was President Trump's responsibility to take care of the housing crisis that California has itself created.

"Well, he's president of the United States," Newsom said, "and I imagine he cares about people of the United States, and he cares about the largest state in the United States of America. And I imagine if you're president of the United States, any leader, like myself, feels a deep sense of responsibility to address some of the most vexing issues in the country. In that respect, you would imagine some accountability and some responsibility to be supportive and to reach out."

Trump has pointedly criticized California's for failing to handle the state's growing homeless population.

What did anyone expect this mediocre squish to do, admit the obvious - it's he and his party's policies solely at fault - like a man?

Cleanup begins at San Jose homeless encampment

SAN JOSE
San Jose police and animal rescue officers stood by as volunteers from non-profit groups removed tents, tarps, mattresses, clothing, cooking equipment and other debris from makeshift camps in the fields west of the Guadalupe River.

Only about 20 or 30 people were still residing in the widespread, grassy parkland, down from around 100 who were there last weekend before the San Jose Housing Department posted notices to vacate on tents and trees, said Ray Bramson, a department spokesman.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF HOMELESS ENCAMPMENTS IN THE GUADALUPE RIVER RIPARIAN ZONE

Quote
Among the negative societal consequences of homelessness, its potential environmental impacts
are largely unconsidered. This study examines the impacts of trash and riparian zone alterations
associated with a homeless population inhabiting the area surrounding the Guadalupe River in San Jose,
California. Literature was reviewed to determine the environmental effects of elevated trash and sediment
loads in rivers, estuaries, and the marine environment. Building upon existing trash assessment protocols,
a methodology was developed to increase the accuracy of source identification. Sampling of four
predetermined areas took place between November 2012 and May 2013.

GUADALUPE RIVER — AT THE CROSS OF SAN JOSE DISTRICTS & NEIGHBORHOODS — SHOWS SIGNS OF DROUGHT AND BLIGHT FROM HOMELESSNESS

Quote
In a past press update, its said that “The US Army Corps of Engineers and the Santa Clara Valley Water District have partnered to fix the channel, which suffered severe erosion from the downpour of rains in late 2009 and early 2010”; however, as of summer 2014, that condition has completely reversed.   Currently, this portion of the River obviously seems to show signs of severe drought.

California Governor Tries Blaming Trump Admin for Homeless Crisis

Leah Barkoukis

Posted: Dec 27, 2019 8:10 AM

The Office of California Gov. Gavin Newsom touted its efforts in combating the homeless crisis in the state and took shots at the Trump administration even as federal data shows it is responsible for the uptick in the U.S.'s overall homeless population.

“CA is doing more than ever to tackle the homelessness crisis despite the federal administration's roadblocks,” the office tweeted, pointing to “1B investment including $650M in emergency aid,” new legislation, and expert advice on addressing the issue.

"Investments" to "fight homelessness". Oh yeah that'll help.

Hilarious. What a complete idiot and a moronic ideology.

How about just making loitering and sleeping in the park illegal again?

Not one solution in this diatribe of anti-Trump nonsense.  If you are governor, it is your job to solve the problems not just beg for more money.

There, fixed it.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.
