Of course they don't, as long as they get paid and never have to answer for their inferior job performance.

Student at failing East Harlem school says teachers just don’t care anymore
By Anabel Sosa
December 17, 2019

“The teachers just be like, ‘We don’t care no more.’ ”

One of the teens in an East Harlem school class where every single student failed the state math exam last year told The Post on Tuesday that he and the 56 other kids never had a chance.

In a school rife with bullying and armed classmates, “the majority of the time, the teachers spent getting us to calm down, to sit down,” said José Cambero, 14, formerly of PS/MS 46 and now a freshman at the Business of Sports School in Manhattan.

“I’m not going to lie, it’s not the school, and it’s not the teachers,’’ he said of last year’s debacle.

“It more of the kids in the area that stress these teachers out, that the teachers just be like, ‘We don’t care no more.’ ...  Full story at NY Post
Why the heck don't they teach grammar anymore? We be, they be - why don't teachers at least attempt to correct this stupid lingo?

I was always told by my parents, that my education was my responsibility, and not the teachers'.

That's a big difference between those who succeed in life, and those who don't.

The biggest difference usually is the presence and participation of parents, although I know people who succeeded greatly despite having been orphaned.

Because they speak exactly the same way.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

the feminization of school standards.
participation trophies.

a lack of fathers.

==no justice, no discipline, no drive to excellence.
75% of inner city blacks grow up without fathers.

It's not just the absent fathers. When I lived in St. Louis, I helped lead a children's program at church called "Pioneer Girls." Some of our inner-city girls regularly missed school because mom couldn't be bothered to wake up and get them ready for the school bus.

So does the germ of success start w/the system or the self???
From earliest days Mankind was self-educated, as structured
education remains a fad of the modern era.
Sadly most are oblivious!!!

There are so many reasons that a teacher, especially an older one, could cease to care.

The behavior, disrespect and lack of interest by the student. The lack of involvement by the parents. The politization  of the school system. And last but not least...the government imposed curriculum.

I wouldn't want to be a teacher in today's world.

Good points all. Years ago I was close to a co-worker and ultimately was introduced to her brother and sister-in-law, both of whom were teachers.  The four of us were talking one day about education and I remember the SIL saying teachers only have the kids for maybe 6 hours a day, 5 days a week.  The rest of the time the kids have no encouragement to get an education.  They have bad or absent parents, the lure of gangs and a number of other o forces that do not allow them to learn.

So I can see why a number of good teachers have thrown in the towel.  And I don't blame them.

@mountaineer

That is a double-edged sword in this day of Affirmative Action principles and minority-controlled school boards that dictate what can and what can NOT be taught because "deys chil-runs doan be unnerstand-n hit!"

True, many of today's teachers ARE illiterate themselves, but that doesn't matter because even the ones that ARE highly qualified based on their own intelligence and education are not allowed to teach anything that might cause conflict within the Educational Borg. And since they aren't allowed to fail anyone, why even try?

This is all a part of the historic plan by the left to destroy America from within so they can create their ideal "One World Government".

Why would they, when the only reason they had the children was to get "free" goobermint housing, food stamps, and a monthly check so they could retire at 18. With any luck at all her daughters would have a child or two before they were 18,and then run away from home, leaving their mother a grandmother who was the sole supporter of her grandchill-run,and still retired on the goobermint payroll and living for free in "my partmint".

That's pretty much what we dreaded happening to a couple of sisters in our group who lived with their inattentive mother, an aunt and, I believe, a grandmother. The father of one of them was in prison; the other was unknown. I don't know how they turned out, as they were only 1st and 2nd grade when I taught them, but always feared they'd be pregnant by 14.  :crying:

Why isn't everyone celebrating? This school is a socialist utopia. Egalitarianism prevailed. Everyone failed.  Social equity has been achieved.

It is a sad,sad fact of human nature that children come to admire the adults they grow up around as role models, and want to be just like those adults when they grow up.

It's not at all surprising this happens. The only that that is surprising is that there are ANY that escape that trap, and the sad thing about that is most of them are the ones that were born both bright and curious. The rest used to seem to escape mostly from being drafted,or something like a death in the family causes them to get sent to live with relatives far away.

You can't blame a child for growing up to be a thug,if thugs, pimps, whores, pushers, and armed robbers are all he knows and sees, and are the ones looked up to and admired in his social circle. They flat just don't know any better, and by the time they are in their 20's it's too late because they are uneducated thugs that can't even be trained because of their ignorance and attitudes, and they have criminal records..

They might as well been given prison ID cards at birth.

On a deeper level, they are this way because the Dim Party TRAINED them to be this way thanks to LBJ's "Great Society",and LBJ was caught on tape bragging that "Thanks to this, the Democratic Party will OWN the bleep vote for the next hundred years!",and laughing. He and the other Dims wrote and passed those laws PURPOSELY creating a new kind of slavery,in exchange for votes and political power.

Many blacks in America now are only Second-class citizens thanks to the DNC,and the bad news is the DNC is getting ready to set them adrift at sea on a leaky vote as they court the brown His and Her Panic Vote. There are a LOT more of them than there are blacks, and the Dims need more votes to stay in office. Which means someone has to suffer because there is only so much money and so many AA positions available,so the Browns are going to get most of them.

People tend to either forget or overlook that when the Dims SINCERELY tell he voters they want to "See equality established all over America!",it means they want all of America that isn't a part of the ruling class as serfs/slaves. Some of the voters even know this and don't care because what they REALLY care about is not having anyone they know living better or having more than THEY have. If that means they can never hope to own a single-family home, that is ok with them as long as nobody else they know gets to own a single-family home.

NOBODY is more obsessed with Class Warfare than the Dims and their voters.

I agree, since that WAS the goal from the start.

I am sure Warren Buffet and George Soros are celebrating.
