Suffice it to say, former vice president, Joe Biden knows absolutely nothing about education but he has a lot of opinions about how it should evolve just the same. As he panders to the crowds, he says some scary things.

For example, he thinks it makes sense to spend 70% of the education funding on pre-school only. Those are the wee ones who won’t remember much of it at all and don’t need all that. He seems to forget that parents have a role in the early development of their children, not the government.

“If ya had ten dollars to spend and that’s all you had to spend on education, I’d spend 7 of it on preschool,” Joe said. He actually got applause for that line.

Biden and a bunch of other Dem candidates were in Pittsburgh yesterday to talk about "education" at some forum.  All the usual promises -- spend more tax dollars on "education" -- which really means more pay for unionized teachers -- impose a tax on the top 2% income earners, blah, blah, blah.  The same baloney the Democrats always talk about.  But none of this applies to charter schools or other education alternatives such as private/religious schools, home schooling, etc.  The Democrats are determined to destroy any alternative to public school education because the public schools are controlled by their union supporters whose only goal is to make sure their members are well paid to indoctrinate the kids in socialism, while failing to teach them even the basics such as reading and math.

The only "plan" that will ever save America's educational system is to get the government the hell out of it, at all levels.

Of course the democrats would love that, spend the majority of money to teach kids their ABC's and how to spell dog, cat, bat and RAT, but not enough money for later years to actually smell a RAT!

He was once a big supporter of charter schools. The people they help the most are poor children.

I'd love to hear him comment, unwarily, on homeschooling and private (campus-based *) schools. I suspect he would either ban the former and so burden the latter as to force many/most to close, or would simply so burden non-PS education options with regulations as the make those options all but extinct.

* Under California law, most homeschoolers are private schools or their children are enrolled in private schools' independent study programs, hence the parenthetical distinction.
