Seven counties in New York State were forced to declare a SNOW EMERGENCIES this week –running Tuesday through Thursday– as high-impact powder buried streets and sidewalks.
As reported by timesunion.com, authorities in Albany have towed some 240 cars since declaring the emergency — a planned operation in order to allow snow plows the chance to effectively dig the city out from 22.6 inches — its biggest snow storm on record this early in the season, and 8th biggest ever:
Residents were instructed to move their cars to the odd side of the road so city plows could clear the snow. Police were reportedly driving down streets with loudspeakers, reminding drivers to move their cars and in some cases, knocking on doors to try and prevent the drivers from being towed.
