What Do Voters Really Think About Immigration?
Interesting takeaways from a report apparently prepared for Democratic group

By Andrew R. Arthur on November 27, 2019

On November 19, 2019, Ryan James Girdusky tweeted a link to a report captioned "October 2019 Suburban White Working Class Voters Focus Groups" that, if valid, suggests strong support for the president's immigration agenda among important swing-state voters.

That report was purportedly prepared for House Majority Forward, which describes itself as "a progressive, non-profit organization committed to promoting economic growth and opportunity, social justice, environmental stewardship, and democracy in the United States of America." Politico (in an article headlined "Dems launch secret-money ad blitz to back House majority") described House Majority Forward as an "affiliate" of House Majority PAC, a political action committee dedicated to electing Democrats to the House of Representatives.

First, the caveats:

Well, I hope the ordinarily tone deaf Democrats (at least when it comes to the non-"protected" demographic) don't pay attention. They're so busy trying to get Pence as POTUS (Which would be the result of a successful removal of Trump from office, not Hillary), they can't see the Washington Monument from Capitol Hill.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Illegal immigration is an issue that will resound most forcefully by those voters most directly affected by it -  working folks,  especially black and Hispanic citizens.    Played right,  the GOP can offset Dem support among the well-off smart set with votes from those citizens now able again to support their families through the dignity of work.
