A BOMB squad was scrambled to a street in central Lille close to a Christmas market to examine a suspicious car containing gas cylinders and a suitcase.

Officers remain at the scene as they try to determine whether any risk is posed, Grand Lille TV reports. 

Soldiers were also sent to the scene as officers worked to determine whether the car posed a danger to members of the public.

The alarm was raised at 11.30am local time.

First printed report I've seen come out, this was on some twitter online breaking news services for a few hours. Given the circumstances, difficult to tell.
