London Bridge sealed off amid reports of gunfire

London (CNN) — Police have said they are dealing with an incident at London Bridge in central London.

Images and video on social media shows emergency vehicles on the bridge, and onlookers including a BBC journalist reported hearing what sounded like gunshots at the scene.

The police service told CNN it is dealing with a "dynamic situation."

London Bridge has been cordoned off by police, with a BBC journalist reporting hearing gunfire.

BBC reporter John McManus said he saw a group of men involved in a fight on the bridge.

Police then arrived and shots were fired, he said.

The Met Police confirmed that it was dealing with an incident at London Bridge and advised people near the scene to follow directions from officers on the ground.

London Bridge shooting – Man ‘shot dead’ by police after several injured in knife rampage

Video footage shows heavily armed cops and members of the public surrounding and grappling with the man who is lying on the ground on the north side of the bridge.

The armed cops then order the members of the public to step away from the "tall bearded" man before he is shot by one of the firearms officers about 2pm.

It is believed that six people have been injured with three in a life-threatening condition.

AP news is reporting it’s terror related.

LONDON (AP) — British police shot a man on London Bridge in the heart of Britain’s capital on Friday after a stabbing that left several people wounded.

The Metropolitan Police force said the circumstances were still unclear, but “as a precaution, we are currently responding to this incident as though it is terror-related.”

Scores of police, some armed with submachine guns, rushed to the scene after reports of a stabbing, ushering bemused office workers and tourists out of an area packed with office buildings, banks, restaurants and bars. Staff in office blocks in the area were told to stay inside.

They had the perp on the ground, struggling with him and the cop still shot him.

Confirmation of a terrorist attack doesn't sound like much to do about nothing.  This is exactly why it was a huge mistake for the Brits to surrender their arms and why we absolutely must fight to retain our 2A  -- never ever surrender that right.  As it is now, there are 17 states that have red flag laws.   Huge mistake.  No due process.

London Bridge terror suspect named by police

The terror suspect shot dead on London Bridge has been named as 28-year-old Usman Khan, police say.

Khan was convicted in 2012 for terrorism offences and released from prison in December 2018 on licence, Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu has said.

Mr Basu said Khan had been living in the Staffordshire area and officers were searching the address.

He added police were "not actively seeking anyone else" over the attack.

I watched the video. It almost seems like this hero who took the knife at one point is speaking another language like what one would hear on the European continent.

I thought so,  too, Tom. I didn't realize at first that he had seized the knife, just thought he was trying to warn people away from the scene.
