Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick enters the 2020 Democratic primary

Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick will test the waters in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, expanding an already jammed field less than three months before nominating contests start.

Patrick, 63, joins former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in taking steps to campaign as a left of center alternative to the leading primary candidates. Some Democrats have worried about the ability of contenders Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders to defeat President Donald Trump next November.

It remains to be seen whether voters want options outside of the current frontrunners for the nomination

He may have some stature that the others lack, but at this stage it makes no sense to jump in UNLESS he has 0bama's endorsement lined up. One article touted his chances in the NH primary because he's from a neighboring state, ignoring that Warren and Sanders are also from neighboring states.

The only other way it makes any sense is he sees Trump getting reelected and wants to start building some national name recognition for 2024...

I encountered this snake when he was chosen to lead a Justice Dept task force on Texaco's employment practices.

I recall him saying 'Texaco employees are racist'.

Earlier this year, Bernard Sigh, Patrick’s ex-brother in-law was sentenced to eight years in prison for raping his ex-wife in a 2017 attack, three years after the head of the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board rose the issue of registering Sigh as a sex offender to Patrick for a prior spousal rape conviction in California. In response, Patrick sacked the official in an effort to avoid having a family member register as a sex offender, calling it a “family matter,” and therefore “marital” rape, according to Stanford Professor Michele Dauber.   ...
