Congressman Peter King Says He Will Not Seek Re-Election (NY-R)
« on: November 11, 2019, 12:22:52 pm »
New York Congressman Peter King announced that he will not seek reelection in 2020 and has decided to take it easy after nearly three decades.

New York Congressman Peter King announced that he will not seek re-election in 2020, citing more time to spend with his family.

"This was not an easy decision. But there is a season for everything and Rosemary and I decided that, especially since we are both in good health, it is time to have the flexibility to spend more time with our children and grandchildren," King, who grew up in Queens, wrote in a Facebook post.

This is unfortunate. I thought he was a pretty good guy overall.

2011 flash back article I saw quoted in the news this morning:

I hope Republicans keep the seat in the district, the Cook Report says "leans Republican".

One thing about Peter King,  you wouldn't wonder where he stood on the issues.  He made it clear.

Agreed.  It is not fun being in the minority, and it looks like Rep King thinks there is little value left in the GOP to fight for.  It's not worth the resentment coming from his own constituents complaining about his lack of power.

New York Congressman Peter King announced that he will not seek re-election in 2020, citing more time to spend alive with his family.

In other news, Chelsea Clinton announced plans to run for Congress in 2020.

Can't be easy representing liberal socialist New York if you're a Republican -- unless you too are a liberal.
