John Hiatt's genes were clearly passed down to this one. Amazing voice.

It's always nice to discover something you hadn't even known existed for all these years . . . like this album . . . (Thad Jones [trumpet] and Frank Wess [tenor saxophone; flute] were mainstays with the Count Basie band of the time; Paul Chambers [bass] was then still a member of the Miles Davis Quintet; Kenny Burrell [guitar] had begun making his name as both an in-demand sideman and a recording artist in his own right; Mal Waldron [piano, who wrote the four numbers this group jammed here] was both a frequent collaborator with Charles Mingus and Billie Holiday's pianist of choice during the last two years of her life) . . .

Thad Jones, Frank Wess, Kenny Burrell, Mal Waldron, Paul Chambers, Art Taylor, After Hours

I post this as a tribute to our brothers and sisters in uniform who are currently trapped in the endless war for corporate profits in the Muddle East.

It's the whole album,so if you don't have anything urgent to do the rest of the day, kick back and enjoy.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

I've always liked songs about DRIVING, done a lot of that through my many years.  Bought a nice used car over a month ago it came with a Full Tank, sadly it's still got almost half.

So, in the brilliant @EasyAce fashion share with US your Driving songs.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Online FM Jazz-blues station
True story: back in my high school days, I used to listen to the local jazz/blues station, WBFO, every night as I went to bed. I knew when to get up because in the morning it would flip to NPR. Blech. Alas, the station stopped carrying jazz around 2012 or so.

Now I have to hope reception is good enough to pick up CJRT out of Toronto.
