Really? CBS Skews can produce temperature records from 2000 BC? Wouldn't that be part of "ever"? I'll make it easier, can CBS Skews produce temperature records from 100 AD? Still can't? Maybe 1000 AD ...... No? Maybe 1700 AD ... still no? ......... OK, thermometers of reasonable linearity with some sort of scale hadn't been invented yet. CBS Skews' "ever" sure shrank a lot. In reality, many countries and cities in the world didn't keep weather station quality records until the 19th or 20th Centuries, if ever. For example, CBS Skews cannot cite 1835 weather records from the capital of California, Sacramento, because there was no city or settlement there until several years later.
So "hottest ever" is absurd, and even "hottest on record" should be footnoted with information about how extremely limited in time and locations those records are.
