Jerry Brown Blames Trump, Republicans for California Fires: ‘The Blood Is on Your Soul’

Former California Governor Jerry Brown told Congress on Tuesday that President Donald Trump and the Republican Party were responsible for the ongoing California fires because of their opposition to drastic climate change policies.

“California’s burning while the deniers make a joke out of the standards that protect us all,” Brown told the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday, as quoted by the San Francisco Chronicle. “The blood is on your soul here and I hope you wake up. Because this is not politics, this is life, this is morality. … This is real.”

Brown was testifying against efforts by the Trump administration to rescind California’s waiver that previously allowed it to set its own emissions standards for vehicles — effectively giving the state control of the entire auto industry. The administration argues that California’s policy is actually worse for the environment because higher standards make new cars — which are more energy-efficient than old cars — more difficult for consumers to buy.

Moonbeam's father was Governor of California (defeated by Ronald Reagan in 1966 ). Moonbeam was raised in California and therefore knows he is lying. This time of year was "Fire Season" when Moonbeam was growing up - I was raised in CA and am a bit younger than him, so I'm speaking of my memories as well as his - and probably has been for centuries.

Dem governors and legislators of the past 40 years and the Enviros have blood on their hands and souls, not Trump or Rs who did not kowtow to the Enviros (Arnold the RINO did!).

Between the raging wildfires and the blackouts, California is now offering an abject lesson in the perils of wishful thinking. The state’s leaders may blame climate change or big utility companies, but in reality it’s their own damn fault.

By Monday morning, Pacific Gas and Electric had broken its record for households blacked out — the company’s effort to avoid the downed live power lines that can start fires. Yet high (but not record-setting) wind gusts are still triggering wildfires, and not just in PG&E’s service area.

Why have 10 of the state’s 20 largest, most deadly fires ever occurred in the last decade? Because its forests are now twice as dense as they were 150 years ago — when the population was a fraction of today’s. ...

President Trump had it right last summer: “There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor.”

On his final day in office, Gov. Jerry Brown admitted as much by quietly signing bills removing impediments to “controlled burns” and allotting $190 million a year to “improve forest health and fire prevention.” ...

My suspicion is that like Al Sharpton did with Jesse's Rainbow Coalition, Jerry is attempting to cashin on the lucrative carbon credit business launched by Algore.

Sharpton is a much more clever individual than either Gore or Brown.
