CBP: At Least 150,000 Foreigners Entered U.S. Illegally This Year; Arrests At Border Double

Democrats claim there’s no problem at the border, but there’s a problem at the border.

More than 150,000 foreigners were able to elude capture at the border during 2019, border officials said Tuesday.

CBP agents arrested 851,508 border-crossers in the 2019 fiscal year, which ended in September. That’s more than twice as many arrested in FY2108, when agents apprehended fewer than 400,000 people.

A record 473,000 families were apprehended at the borders this fiscal year, Morgan said, a more than threefold increase over FY2018.

“They are profiting on the backs of this vulnerable population, and that’s why it’s still a crisis,” Robert Perez, deputy commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said at the press conference.

I don't know where these stats are coming from, but 150,000 seems ridiculously low.

That's not counting the 851,508 that were caught at the border.

Nor the ones that snuck across.  Jusy sayin'.  I also wonder how many are now in line waiting for asylum.

What is the asylum backlog?

There are more than 338,000 people waiting for asylum decisions from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the department told the PBS NewsHour. That’s up from 320,000 cases in June of 2018, according to the Migration Policy Institute, which attributes the increase to an increase in asylum requests.

The spike in requests likely is the result of a number of factors, including worsening violence and climate change in Central America as well as the strong U.S. economy and smugglers telling migrants that they need to make the journey before the Trump administration makes it more difficult to enter the U.S.

The asylum case backlog was only 40,000 in 2014.

IMHO the spike in those seeking asylum has been orchestrated by the globalists and leftists, thus, the overwhelming surges of caravans at our southern border.  They are coming from all parts of the world and we still don't have a handle on who is getting in.  Yes, things have improved, but keep in mind that an unprecedented number of illegals have tried to enter, so many that it was reported that most were not vetted nor screened for disease and they were just let in.

Again, from all the previous reports this year, I still find 150,000 very minimal.
