Strasburg pitches around a tough infield hit (Rendon dove but couldn't stop Paul DeJong's shot), Flaherty's out of the game (pinch hitter Matt Carpenter struck out looking), and the Nats still lead 4-0 in the middle of the fifth . . .

The one thing I knew for damn sure going in was that Strasburg's changeup was going to get a very full night's work. And when it missed, it didn't miss the zone by much.

Hadn't realized that all seven (7) Ks have come on the off-speed pitch.   Thought that was for the 2nd time thru the order, etc..

I'm guessing he's storing up a little energy to get through a sixth and maybe seventh if need be.

Pitching change for the Cardinals, Howie Kendrick hits John Brebbia's first offering off the left center field fence for an RBI double, 5-0 Nats in the bottom of the fifth . . .

Trivia: Howie Kendrick now has five hits with men in scoring position this postseason. It's the most in Nats/Expos franchise history.

That guy can flat out hit!

Intriguing tweet from the New York Times's baseball writer Tyler Kepner: Not to count out the Cardinals, but with the Nats up 6-0 in Game 3, this NLCS might not just be a sweep, but an *ultimate* sweep, where the losing team never even has a lead. The Cardinals are familiar with this; it happened to them in the 2004 World Series.

Hell with that!   Watching still thinking they're going to need every one of these runs tonight.   I remember the past.

It could have been worse.

Consider Exodus Cabrera. Or Leviticus Cabrera. Or Deuteronomy Cabrera.

Or King Crimson Cabrera . . .  wink777

LOL!   Just feel a bit sorry for a kid growing up with that moniker.

First and second and Paul DeJong lines a single to left. Soto slipped and recovered . . . then threw in past everyone letting Jose Martinez score the first Cardinal run of the game and second in the series. Still first and second, one out, top of the seventh . . .

Strasburg strikes out pinch-hitter Wieters and Dexter Fowler---both on changeups---to keep the damage to a single run. Twelve punchouts on the night for him.

7-1 Nats at the seventh inning stretch . . .

Fernando Rodney, the grand old man of the Nats bullpen (when he was a kid the top ten were probably the Ten Commandments), gets them three and three with two punchouts including Paul Goldschmidt's fourth of the night.

8-1, Nats, middle eighth . . .

A two-out walk to Trea Turner but that's all she wrote for now.

8-1 Nats after eight and they're three outs from a 3-0 NLCS lead . . .

Fernando Rodney after he ended the St. Louis eighth . . . (and, hey! He wears the late Jim Bouton's uniform number!)
